When Prevention Becomes A Privilege

CAPIC’s Executive Director, Richelle Cromwell, is thrilled to share that The American Journal of Public Health has published a paper highlighting CAPIC’s lung cancer screening collaboration with Tufts COHERE.
This collaboration with the Tufts COHERE Program and CAPIC’s SUDS/Mobile Outreach Program increased local health literacy and lung cancer screening rates by using customized educational materials and structured supports to bridge gaps in care in Chelsea. CAPIC is grateful for the continued partnership with the Tufts COHERE Program, and we thank our SUDS/Mobile Outreach Program for their efforts in providing these critical resources to local individuals.

CAPIC SUDS/Mobile Outreach Program Announces Client Barber

CAPIC’s SUDS/Mobile Outreach Program in partnership with SELAH Day Resource Center are proud to introduce Jonathan Plaza, the newest member of CAPIC’s SUDS Stipend Program. Jonathan provides professional haircuts and shaves to clients on their journey out of substance use and into recovery. In this role, Jonathan provides no-cost barbering services, haircuts, and shaves to the individuals we serve. By creating a welcoming, respectful space, Jonathan helps clients feel seen, valued, and empowered.
He also provides the same professional care to those individuals who are dealing with homelessness as well as those still struggling with addiction.

His work goes far beyond grooming. It restores confidence, dignity, and a sense of self-worth at a time when it matters the most. We are grateful to have Jonathan’s skill, compassion, and steady presence as part of our team.

It was a busy Saturday! CAPIC staff had a great time at Chelsea Day and at the For Those Who Can for Those in Need Resource & Volunteer Fair in Revere on Saturday. It was the perfect day to be out in the community.

CAPIC’s Summer Camp Program hosted a back-to-school event for campers and their families. Everyone received school supplies for the new school year and ended the day with ice cream!
