Join the Adult Learners Institute (ALI Michigan) for Conversations with Songwriters—a unique behind-the-scenes look at the creative process with acclaimed singer-songwriter Annie Capps and some of Michigan’s most talented songwriters.

Each Tuesday in April, Annie will sit down with two special guests to talk about inspiration, songwriting, and the stories behind the music. It’s part conversation, part storytelling, and a rare chance to hear directly from the artists themselves.

ALI conducts two semesters each year, with around 20 classes offered each semester. Class offerings include science, history, the arts, culture, travel, and more.

Bicycle Touring in Southeast Asia is our first class on Feb 24th. Register to hear more about W***y Hunter and Rebecca Houtsma travels. Over the past five years, we've bicycled across Europe and Asia. We've wild-camped, stayed at campgrounds, and in hotels as we explored new areas (to us) and met lovely people around the world.

Volunteer Opportunity: Class Location Scheduler
Be the friendly connector who helps match our teachers with the classroom spaces they need.
Everything is already set up—you just help make it happen.
What You’ll Do
 Get trained if you’d like — we’ll show you everything you need.
 Team up with the Curriculum Committee Chair — they’ll already have teachers, classes
scheduled.
 Connect with our partner locations by phone or in person to confirm classroom
availability.
 Check in with teachers to make sure dates and times work for them.
 Send quick followup emails to partner locations, instructors, and the ALI office
confirming class details.
 Make sure everyone received the info — a simple “Did you get this?” is all it takes.
 Track your progress on a Google Sheet — it’s easy, and we’ll teach you (it takes about
three minutes to learn).
Skills You’ll Need
 Ability to send and receive emails
 Ability to send and receive text messages
 Basic Google Sheet entry — again, we’ll train you!
 A computer to work from
 A Google email address is helpful but not required.
Time Commitment
 10–20 hours total in October/November
 10–20 hours total in May/June
 Work anytime, from anywhere during these months— the role is fully remote and
flexible.
