FIRST EVER GEORGE VOTAW MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP DUE MAY 15th (post marked by)
George Votaw passed away leaving behind a life defined by hard work, generosity, and a deep-rooted love for agriculture. He was born in Oregon, where he grew up on a small farm as part of a large family. In his youth, he spent many years showing cows, an early passion that would remain close to his heart throughout his life.
In his early adulthood, George moved to Washington, where he built a life with his wife, Teresa. Together they raised two children, Ryan and Brianna, who were a central part of his world. After stepping away from the cattle business, he began a career in the auto industry, eventually opening his own dealership, Community First Auto Centers, in 2012.
Though his career path changed, George never lost his connection to agriculture. He was a dedicated supporter of local 4-H and FFA youth, consistently giving back to the next generation. Even before owning his dealership, he encouraged the businesses he worked with to contribute to livestock auctions, continuing that support for many years.
Later in life, George returned to his roots by once again showing Jersey dairy cows, reflecting the enduring passion he carried from his youth. In his free time, he enjoyed playing co****le competitively. He also shared a special bond with his beloved English bulldog, Bogie, who accompanied him to work nearly every day for over nine years.
George will be remembered for his generosity, his commitment to his community, and the lasting impact he made on young people in agriculture. The Sale Committee extends its heartfelt gratitude for his many years of support and dedication to the program and its future.
