Vidalia, Louisiana – Site of the FCRV 55th Retiree Rally

Join us March 14–20, 2027, for the 55th FCRV International Retiree Rally at River View RV Park in Vidalia, Louisiana, along the Mighty Mississippi River and less than two miles from historic Natchez, Mississippi.

Vidalia has a rich history dating to Spanish rule and the Louisiana Purchase. Local highlights include the legendary Great Sandbar Duel, involving Jim Bowie in 1827, and the Sidney A. Murray, Jr. Hydroelectric Station, Louisiana’s first hydroelectric power plant.

Area attractions include Tacony Plantation, an 1845 antebellum overseer’s house and birthplace of John R. Lynch, Mississippi’s first Black congressman. Visits require advance arrangements through the Concordia Parish Tourist Commission/Vidalia Welcome Center at 318-336-7008.

Also consider visiting Frogmore Plantation in nearby Ferriday, a historic cotton plantation that remains a working farm and offers tours, historic structures, and educational programs.

Are you ready to roll into the 2027 camping season with great friends, beautiful views, and non-stop entertainment? Join us in scenic Vidalia, Louisiana, for the 55th FCRV International Retiree Rally!

Nestled right on the west bank of the Mississippi River, Vidalia offers a front-row seat to one of America’s most iconic waterways. Whether you're watching majestic riverboats dock from the famous Riverwalk or taking in panoramic water views at sunset, it’s the absolute picture-perfect backdrop to gather, catch up, and create new memories.

This rally is all about fellowship, fun, and celebrating the RV lifestyle together. We’re putting together a fantastic lineup of activities, including:
• Games & Puzzles & Pet Parade: Friendly competition, casual games all week long and cute pets.
• Live Entertainment & Dancing: Dust off your dancing shoes and get ready for music that keeps the energy high.
• Fellowship: Reconnect with old friends, make new ones, and share stories around the campground.
• Local Exploration: Rich historical sites, charming town views, and plenty of local spots to explore. Come early to get a head start on sightseeing!

The Rally will be held at River View RV Park & Resort 100 River View Parkway, Vidalia, LA 71373.

Harlan and I are thrilled to announce that Tim and Teresa Clanton will be joining us as co-hosts this year! All of our volunteers are hard at work behind the scenes ironing out every detail to make the 55th rally our best one yet.

We already have a wonderful group of members stepping up to chair committees, but we are always looking for more volunteers. Pitching in is a great way to meet fellow campers and help make this event a resounding success. If you'd like to lend a hand, reach out to the rally team—every bit of help is truly appreciated!

The Silver Foxes August Campout

The Silver Foxes had their Aug. 10-14 campout at LaVeta, CO with 7 rigs attending. 7 members walked 52 miles total. Daily get-togethers with indoor games, "Friendsgiving" potluck & wiener/s'mores roast were enjoyed by all plus a lunch at the golf course steakhouse. Big Thanks to the Hosts!

You’ve heard of busy beavers, but what about busy badgers?🦡

We recently spotted a freshly made badger hole along the paved trail at Maga ta-Hohpi Waterfowl Production Area—proof that these mammals are hard at work. Badgers are known for their digging skills and often create burrows to find food, like insects and small mammals, or to build dens for safe places to sleep and raise their young. Their strong claws, flattened bodies, and powerful forelimbs are perfectly adapted for moving soil with ease—some have been known to dig a new burrow hole every day throughout the summer! Talk about busy work!

If you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of a badger, early mornings or evenings are your best bet, as that’s when they’re most active. If you find a badger hole, please admire it from a safe distance and let wildlife do their thing. If you look closely, you might even spot some badger footprints along the trail from a previous event! 🐾

The Silver Foxes July Campout

The Silver Foxes July campout to Camp Hale, Ft. Carson, CO was attended by 8 rigs. 7 members walked 23 miles in 4 days. A BIG great Potluck & each day snacks, indoor games, get-togethers, and an outing to Aspen Grill were enjoyed by all. Thank you to the hosts for the hard work.

Silver Foxes June campout to Monarch Spur CG was enjoyed with a cookout and many games under the gazebo. Five members walked a total of 13 miles, and Ken & Helen visited Salida, CO. Two moose came through the campground -- too bad I didn't get a pic of them. Bad smoke from the Utah fire. Submitted by: Waltraud "Willi" Walker
