After earning his veterinary degree in Toronto, Claris established a thriving horse hospital in Buffalo. His growing operation included an anatomy museum, veterinary medicine production, horseshoeing services and even a specialized animal ambulance.

Decades ago, Rochester was home to the Rochester Rockets. Led by head coach Vince Mazza and quarterback Charles “Rocket” Maloy, the team’s run was short-lived, but added a fascinating chapter to Rochester’s long football history.
