At our noon meeting Wednesday, Chamber Executive Director Carole Yeck introduced Darrin Deeter, who presented platform CommunityConX in partnership with the Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce and Cheboygan Area Visitors Bureau.
CommunityConX is a fantastic new tool that helps connect our community by bringing events, activities, meetings, and opportunities from across the Cheboygan area into one easy-to-find location. Whether you’re a resident looking for something to do, a visitor exploring our region, or an organization trying to reach more people, CommunityConX makes it easier to stay informed, get involved, and celebrate all the great things happening throughout or community.

Thank you Jake Priestley for building the new flower box and delivering the topsoil, and to Brandy, Sidney and Bill for planting the flowers today! We went with red, white and blue this year in celebration of our great nation’s 250th!

At the very fun Alpena Flower Festival 5K with Dr. Brendan Conboy and Race Director Sarah Martinson. Ironically, Brendan and Sarah were the guest speakers at our Rotary Club meeting just a couple of weeks ago; small world! They had given a wonderful presentation about the incredible work being done by Thunder Bay Community Health Service to provide many types of essential health services in Cheboygan County and throughout NE Michigan.

At our noon meeting today, Dr. Nicole Persing-Wethington of MSU Extension presented a delightful and very informative introduction to just a few of the benefits attributed to the practice of Tai Chi.

Today our Rotary Club of Cheboygan helped The Salvation Army - Cheboygan County distribute almost 20,000 lbs of food to 159 households! This huge distribution was funded by the very generous DTE Foundation. In addition to those tagged, Rotarians Don Bohls, Jim Conboy, Tom Eustice, Mark Jones, Natalie MacClugage, Brad Martin, Lee Muchmore, and Scott Pavlich, along with several non-Rotarian volunteers all pitched in to make this day a resounding success!

Thank you to Chief Daniel Loder for speaking to the Rotary Club of Cheboygan today about the growing need for additional officers within the Cheboygan Police Department.

Chief Loder shared the challenges many small communities are facing with recruitment, staffing shortages, and the increasing demands placed on local law enforcement. We appreciate the department’s continued dedication to protecting and serving our community every day.

A big thank you to Chief Medical Officer Dr Brendan Conboy, and Sarah Martinson, Communications Director for introducing us to Thunder Bay Community Health Service and for the wonderful presentation about the incredible work being done throughout our county.

Thunder Bay provides essential healthcare services to individuals and families across Northeast Michigan, helping ensure communities have access to medical care, dental services, behavioral health support, and school-based clinics close to home. It was inspiring to learn more about the clinic attached to the middle school, along with the other locations they operate throughout the county to better serve local residents.

We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your mission and impact with us!
