Turning Heartbreak into Hope for Dylan 🕊️❤️ - Dianne Myers
On February 11, 2019, my families lives changed forever. My sweet 10-year-old son, Dylan Myers, collapsed during gym class. He was a healthy, amazing, and loving boy, but he was taken from us by Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).
We miss Dylan every single day. We truly believe that if an AED had been there to give him a shock, he might still be with us today.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest is not a heart attack. It’s an electrical emergency that stops the heart without warning. It can happen to anyone—even kids—but it is treatable and reversible if people act fast. Using an AED can actually triple a person's chance of survival.
In honor of Dylan’s memory, we are so incredibly grateful to share that the Northern Care Center has received a LIFEPAK AED, donated by the Kimberly Anne Gillary Foundation.
Like us, the Gillary family lost their beautiful daughter Kimberly to SCA. They have made it their mission to protect Michigan students by placing AEDs in schools and providing CPR and AED training.
We are so thankful for this lifesaving gift. If this AED saves even one family from the pain we carry, Dylan’s light continues to shine.
Please, learn where the AEDs are in your community. It’s a simple tool that makes the difference between a tragedy and a miracle.
