Exhibit and Store News The Museum is open in September on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays; hours are 10-4:00, except Sundays, which are 1-4:00. In October, we'll be open Saturdays and Sundays; October 12 is our last day. We have 2027 Cathy MacNeill calendars, "A Taste of Chebeague" cookbooks, and a new printing of the Stone Sloop Book with an updated Doughty genealogy page....

Next Lecture: August 24

Monday Evening, August 24th, at the Community Hall, at 7 PM, Donna Damon will present the 3rd Ellsworth Miller Memorial Lecture of 2026. Donna’s lecture, "The Steamboat Is Coming," will trace how the growing tourism business led to commercial craft whose purpose was to convey visitors to and from our island, and thus pointed the way to the ferry systems that serve us today. Coffee, other beverages, and delicious refreshments will be served.

Progress Reviewed, Elections Held at CIHS Annual Meeting Treasurer Ted Ballard moderated the CIHS Annual Members Meeting on June 26th, which was attended by 50 loyal souls. Please come to the Fisherman's Memorial Wreath laying next Tuesday July 21 at the Chandlers Cove Toll of the Sea Memorial at 4 pm. It is a State wide event sponsored by the Fishermans Memorial organization. There will be a program that will include the wreath laying and more. Michael Porter Discusses the Evolution of Chebeague’s Road System On Monday, July 27, CIHS Board member Michael Porter will deliver the second presentation in the 2026 Ellsworth Miller Summer Lecture Series. Michael’s talk, titled ‘Country Roads, or The Ballad of East and West,’ will begin at 7 pm at the Island Community Hall.
