Achieving this certification takes dedication, time, training, and a commitment to continuing education. We are proud to see our members continue to challenge themselves and bring that knowledge back home to our department. 💪

🎓 What does this mean for Little Caillou Fire Department?
Having certified fire service instructors within our department strengthens our ability to train, mentor, and develop our firefighters right here at home. It helps us build a stronger training program, pass knowledge on to the next generation of firefighters, and continue raising the standard of service we provide.

This week, we are proud to recognize Firefighter/EMR Teddy J. Neil! Teddy values training, teamwork, and keeping everyone safe while serving our Chauvin and Cocodrie communities. ❤️

Away from the station, Teddy enjoys hunting, fishing, outdoor activities, spending time with his family, and living by his faith. 🎣🙏

We would also like to wish Teddy and his wife, Rhonda, a very happy anniversary as they celebrate 43 wonderful years of marriage this week! 💍❤️ Congratulations to you both on this beautiful milestone!

🔥🐊 Wally’s Wednesday Safety Tip! 🐊🔥

Grilling season is here! 🍔🌭 Before you fire up the grill, Wally wants to remind everyone to GRILL SAFELY & CHILL HAPPILY! 😎🔥

🏡 Always grill outdoors and away from your home, garage, decks, and overhanging branches.
👧🐶 Keep children and pets at least 10 feet away from the grill.
🧽 Keep your grill clean to help prevent dangerous flare-ups.
🔥 Check propane hoses and connections for leaks before each use.
🧯 Be prepared! Keep a fire extinguisher, bucket of water, or hose nearby.

A little preparation today can prevent a BIG fire tomorrow! ❤️🚒

Calling all young bayou artists! As our Chauvin and Cocodrie students gear up to head back to school, the Little Caillou Fire Department is launching our Annual Back to School Safety Coloring Contest featuring everyone's favorite safety duo, Ollie the Golden Retriever and Wally the Alligator!

Show us your creative colors and help Ollie and Wally spread safety smiles across District #7!🖍️✨

Due to Tropical Depression Five, the Terrebonne Levee and Conservation District has closed the Humble Canal floodgate. The Bayou Terrebonne lock will be closed as well and will operate at the top of the hour for marine traffic. It’s Fun Fact Friday with Ollie! 🐾💡 Ever wondered why fire is so hot? 🔥 It all comes down to a chemical reaction called combustion!

Here’s how it works:

🪵 Fuel: Fire needs something to burn, like wood, paper, or gas.
💨 Oxygen: Fire breathes oxygen from the air to keep burning.
🌡️ Heat: Heat ignites the fuel and oxygen to kickstart the reaction.
🔥 Chemical Reaction: When fuel, oxygen, and heat join forces, they release massive energy in the form of heat and light!

Fire is amazing and keeps us warm, cooks our food, and serves us well—but it must always be respected. Stay safe and stay smart! 🏠✨

Alex is a bright and up-and-coming leader within our department. From cutting grass to washing the bayou deck, Alex steps up without hesitation and gets the job done. His dedication, respect, and motivation make a massive difference around the station, and his hard work is noticed and appreciated by every single member of our crew.

It’s Wally’s Wednesday Safety Tip! 🐊🧯 Fire extinguishers are small, but mighty! Be prepared, not scared, by knowing how to use yours before an emergency happens. 🔥💪

Here are Wally’s key fire extinguisher tips:

👁️ Know Where It Is: Locate fire extinguishers in your home, workplace, and vehicle.

🔍 Check It Regularly: Make sure it’s in place, easily accessible, and fully charged.

📖 Know How To Use It: Remember the P.A.S.S. method (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep)!

🔥 Use The Right Type: Match the extinguisher to the fire—not all fires are the same!

🏃 Know When To Get Out: If the fire is spreading or smoke is heavy, GET OUT!

🚨 Important Reminder: If you ever have to use a fire extinguisher, always call 911 first or immediately after so firefighters can respond and ensure the fire is completely extinguished and safe! 📞🚒
