That's how many patients we have here, fighting now. Rare disease is brutal. ALS doesn’t care how small the number is. So, neither do we.

I shared this with my mom’s first neurologist before she was diagnosed with ALS. Because I knew something was wrong, and it wasn’t just neuropathy. She was having progressive weakness. She was losing function week by week. But she had NO PAIN, no tingling, or twitching.

I'm not a doctor, but years working in Disability insurance Unum Careers taught me how to research. This red flag tool I found helped us ask the right questions, and get answers.

ALS is rare, but delayed diagnosis is extremely common. So, awareness matters. Listening matters too. If something feels wrong, keep advocating.

ALS is a rare disease. Most people do not wake up every morning thinking about ALS. They are thinking about their kids, their jobs, their bills, their own illnesses, and their own losses. The cruel reality of rare disease advocacy is that families often have to make the world pay attention to something it has the privilege to ignore. Most people have no idea that ALS is not simply a loss of muscle, but the systematic theft of every basic human function while your awareness remains intact.

We exist to bring support and hope to the local families fighting this monster. ♥️💙💜

It’s for Billy getting to his PEG placement so his family doesn't have to choose between a life-sustaining procedure and the cost of getting there.
