Love's Arm

Love's Arm Our mission is love, advocacy and support for women survivors of trafficking, prostitution and addiction through a Christ-centered community of grace.

If you or a loved one is a survivor of addiction, prostitution, or sex trafficking and seeking support, Love’s Arm is just one call away. Established in 2005 by sex trafficking survivor Mimi Nikkel, this non-profit organization in Chattanooga, TN, is committed to spreading the message of healing and providing support for women after surviving prostitution and sex trafficking situations. Since 2005

Love’s Arm has been reaching out to women in situations of sexual exploitation, serving as a pillar of Christ’s love and hope. Through seven programs of service be provision staff and volunteers reach out to women working in street prostitution, sex trafficking, strip clubs and incarcerated women. We offer assistance through Acute Care, a 24/7 Helpline and Rahab’s Rest cost-free holistic recovery home that provides housing, health care, and other assistance to sex trafficking survivors and victims of addiction-related prostitution for 18 to 24 months. Residents have access to a variety of services, including comprehensive healthcare, recovery, educational assistance and job training, to help them find their autonomy and empower themselves in building a sustainable future. Working in close collaboration with the City of Chattanooga/Hamilton County Family Justice Center, Metropolitan Ministries, CEMPA, CADAS, Thistle Farms National Network and numerous service providers and agencies this women’s advocacy center commits to helping women leave dangerous situations. The Other Side of My Foot
On the other side of my foot a woman was sprawled out on the sidewalk, barefoot, being actually eaten alive by insects in 100-degree heat. Our Development Director Stephanie, and I were out promoting our Fall fundraiser when we saw the small figure. After several attempts to awaken her, we were relieved when she opened her eyes. She rejected the offer for an ambulance but asked for something to eat. We obliged, offered food, drink and something to clean up with. We put our arms around her and prayed. This young lady is well known to our Street Outreach team. I know a little about how she came to be in this state, but it is her story to tell. Not mine.

What I can share are the general circumstances that often affect those with similar backgrounds. Every survivor's story is different, but there are often common denominators. Many have experienced a number of adverse childhood experiences including s*xual trauma. These experiences simply broke them and led to guilt, shame, sadness and extraordinary pain. Temporary relief came in the form of drugs, alcohol and exploitation from those seeking to exploit their vulnerability.

At Love's Arm, our Street Outreach Teams set about finding these women to offer love, sustenance and resources.10 times monthly we visit streets, alleys, motels and neighborhoods where we try to bring light, love and hope into darkness. Our goal is to build trust and offer resources for a better life. Too often, they are simply not ready. In some cases, they are. This year, one woman finally took the brave step to leave decades of struggle and join our recovery program. Oh, how we celebrated!

Because of our supporters we can provide safe shelter, food, clothing, medical care and trauma therapy. Last year alone we had over 500 encounters with survivors in the jails, streets, the adult entertainment club, our Helpline, and in our residential programs.

This post began with thoughts of the woman sprawled out on one side of my shoe. However, it should be noted that on the other side was a street busy with citizens on foot and in cars. We understand why people may not be inclined to stop, but we at Love's Arm always will. With your continued prayers, volunteer efforts and financial support we can minister on behalf of those who wish they could. It was heartbreaking to leave our young friend that day. She is always on my mind and in my prayers, along with the hundreds that we know to be in similar circumstances.

We hope that you will visit us at www.lovesarmoutreach.org and learn how to get involved and help us serve trafficking survivors in our community.

Volunteer. Pray. Donate.

July 30, 2026, isn’t just National Cheesecake Day or the International Day of Friendship—it’s also the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. Established by the United Nations, this day raises global awareness, supports survivors, and aims to end modern slavery.

Thank you to the TBI and FBI for giving Love’s Arm the opportunity to share how human trafficking impacts our community this evening. We will continue to pray vigilantly for everyone affected by this crime against humanity.

Please stay tuned for the upcoming launch of the Love’s Arm Prayer Coalition!
