The Haven House for Children The Haven is an Open Door for Children in Foster Care. It can take days, even weeks to find them a suitable home.

The Haven House for Children is a 501(c)(3) that provides a safe, loving home for children in foster care—keeping siblings together, meeting every need, and showing the love of Jesus until they find their forever home. 💛 When Child Protective Services removes a child from their home due to neglect or abuse, they begin looking for a foster home or residential placement to place them at. The Haven is a home that will welcome in kids when they do not yet have a foster home to go to. However long it takes to find placement for each child, we want to show the love of Jesus through providing our caring presence to all that enter our doors.

“In transition.”

Just two words.

But those words can hold an enormous amount of uncertainty for a child.

Where am I going?
How long will I be there?
Who will be there?
What happens tomorrow?

At The Haven, we serve children during that in-between time.
We may not have every answer they're looking for.

But we can offer something while the answers are being worked out: You are welcome here. There is a place for you tonight.

Sometimes hope doesn't answer every question.

Today we're praying for someone we haven't met.

The child who may need The Haven next.

Lord, wherever they are today, be near.

Protect them.
Comfort them.
Surround them with the right people.
Give wisdom to every person making decisions on their behalf.

And if their journey brings them through our door, help us be ready.

Give us gentle words, patient hearts and open hands.

We may not know their name.

But You do.

Amen. 💙

A child may be physically safe before they feel safe.

That's an important distinction.

Children experiencing difficult transitions may need time, predictability, patience, appropriate choices and calm adults around them.

At The Haven, we're learning to look beyond behavior and remember there may be a story underneath it that we cannot see.

So we work to create calm.

We offer choices when we can.

We respect boundaries.

We give children room to settle.

And we remind ourselves that trust isn't something we are owed.

It's something we help create.

On World Mental Health Day, we're especially mindful that caring for children means caring for the whole child. 💙

Next Saturday, bring the whole family to The Haven Car Show and Treat Trail! Children can collect candy and small giveaways from participating vehicles and community stations while everyone enjoys incredible cars, trucks, bikes, food and classic oldies music.

Maybe you can't.

But please don't let that convince you there isn't a place for you in foster care.

You can make a meal.

You can pray.

You can volunteer.

You can purchase something children regularly need.

You can become a monthly Hope Partner.

You can invite your church or business to get involved.

You can share our posts so someone else discovers The Haven.

Foster families are incredibly important—but they were never meant to carry this work alone.

There is a place for you here. 💙

One month.

On September 8, we opened the doors of The Haven.

We had prayed over these rooms. Prepared these beds.

Stocked these shelves. Walked these halls asking God to use this place for His purpose.

Then the phone rang.

And suddenly, the mission we had talked about for so long had names and needs right in front of us.

This first month has stretched us, taught us, humbled us and reminded us exactly why The Haven was needed.

There have been meals and laundry. Late calls and unexpected needs. Laughter and hard moments. Hellos and goodbyes.
And through it all, God has been faithful.

To everyone who prayed, built, gave, volunteered, encouraged and believed this was possible:
Look what God has done.

And we're only beginning. 💙
