Freedom Sings USA

‍Freedom Sings USA provides free songwriting/music-arts programs for Veterans and Military families.

PLEASE NOTE: Persons using wheelchairs and/or prosthetics will be able to participate in our program. A sign language interpreter, an assistive listening system, or other assistance for persons with hearing impairments will be provided upon request. Large print materials or descriptive audiotapes will be available upon request for persons with visual limitations.

Fiirst pictures in from the successful Trailblazers Luncheon yesterday at the Walden Club. We honored female veterans to commemorate National Women Veterans Day The entertainment was spectacular with Minnie Murphy and Hunter Girl entertained and Josh Wheeler, Red Bank class songwriter, sang a Red Bank class female veteran's song. Joe Grieser, active Reserves Air Force also a member of the Red Bank class performed as guests were coming in. Cam, Board member, is pictured with Hunter Girl on the end. In the middle are the three founders, Steve, Bobbie and Don.
The room was beautiful thanks to our wonderful committee. More pictures of the event to come of the luncheon and the impressive America 250 VIP reception in the Tavern where we honored John McNabb II and debuted our AI videos by our Video And Education
Team.

Yesterday Freedom Sings USA was at the We Care Vet Fair in Rome, GA, which we are a member of the VCRN (Veterans Community Resource Network). Veterans Shelly Galloway and Gloria Gray manned the Freedom Sings information table. There were over 1000 veterans that came through the fair for everything from healthcare, clothes, food, benefit help and all the resources available to them. We are a proud member of the VCRN. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

It was a busy Wednesday. We finished Gerald Allday's song in the zoom National Class. He is pictured here with his wife, Cheryl. The were very pleased with the experience telling his story and the process of writing it into a song. Then the Trailblazers Luncheon committee met and finalized details with the The Walden Club about the luncheon Saturday June 13. We would like to invite any female veterans in the area to come. Don Goodman came to Chattanooga on Tuesday to appear with our Marketing intern, Macey Reagan, on WDEF News 12 with local celebrity Chip Chapman. They were highlighting the Trailblazer luncheon and America 250 VIP reception after the luncheon this Saturday at 11 am at the Walden Club. Don stuck around to have some coffee with Macey and Bobbie at Goodman Coffee Roasters in St. Elmo. Great name and great coffee! It was a powerful and healing day at the Durham VA. At the end of the day we heard the veterans say things to us like "You changed my life today."! 1Vet1Lov provided breakfast and lunch. Then the veterans separated with their songwriters and told their stories. We can't say enough about Martine Bullard, Jillian Thompson, Music Therapists, and Christy White, Chief of Recreation Therapy at the Durham VA. We have found that a VA is only as good as the people who work within it who are passionate about helping their veterans heal. These professionals at the Durham VA who brought in Freedom Sings USA are some of the best the VA has to offer. They were always alert and compassionate with their veterans. We want to thank them for bringing in Freedom Sings USA and Monaca Gilmore and her company 1Vet1Love for a moving experience and opportunity to help in healing those who have sacrificed alot for our way of life. They were already talking about the next retreat as we were leaving. And to some of the best songwriters in the country who have a heart and talent to give to our veterans, we say thank you. You are the best of the best!

Live from the Durham NC VA Medical Center the first day of the Freedom Sings USA retreat with veterans. Every retreat is different and we love to go work directly with the patients of the VA Medical Centers. Martine Bullard, DVAHCS, and Jillian Thompson, DVAHCS, both VA music therapists invited us to work with these veterans. Monaca Gilmore, the Director of our Trailblazers class and a wounded combat veteran, volunteered her company 1Vet1Love to be a sponsor. Because it was the VA and the veterans are in the program there it was a more intimate setting than most of our Meet and Greets. The songwriters loved actually getting to know these veterans over a meal and relaxing conversation. It was great for the veterans to be able to get to know our songwriters, Steve Dean, Bobby Tomberlin, Bill Whyte and Bill Diluigi. Don Goodman will zoom into the write in the morning. 🇺🇸🎸🎼

Just one more sleep until our Durham, NC Veteran Retreat begins!

We're proud to have Monaca Gilmore and her company, 1VET1LUV, serving as our Durham Site Organizer this weekend. A retired U.S. Army Sergeant and dedicated veteran advocate, Monaca has devoted her life to supporting and empowering fellow veterans.

We can't wait to gather, share stories, and create songs together. See you Friday, Durham!
