WaterWays would just like to say thank you so much for joining us for the inaugural Summer Swim Report season! The community overwhelmed us with the outpouring of support and interest in this effort and we are diligently looking for ways to expand the next summer season to include more popular swimming locations. Our sampling locations this season included Greenway Farm Quarry, Big Soddy Creek Gulf, South Chickamauga Creek at Audubon Acres, Rainbow Lake, Middle Creek, and Suck Creek. We hope our weekly report gave you the confidence to make safe swimming decisions and spiked interest in freshwater monitoring! Thank you for all your comments and questions, especially concerning why the levels were high and what people can do to help improve them. The slide above shows all of the weekly results of the 14-week season including an overall average for the summer for each site.
This data shows the variation of the Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria levels from week to week. This variation is mostly due to intense rain events which increase runoff entering our creeks. Help WaterWays continue to provide the information you need to stay informed and make decisions for safe freshwater swimming. See you back next year for summer of 2027!
