I stepped away from Harmony Health Group this week. That wasn’t an easy decision. The past seven years have meant a lot to me—both personally and professionally. I’m grateful for the people I’ve worked alongside and for every individual who trusted us during some of the hardest moments of their lives. That experience helped shape who I am today.

With that said, I’m excited about what’s ahead.

I’ve joined Apex Recovery as the National Outreach Coordinator. After spending time with their team and seeing how they show up for their clients, it felt like the right place for me. The full continuum of care, the collaboration between clinical and medical, and the focus on doing what’s best for each person really stood out.

This work is personal to me, and I’m thankful to continue being part of helping people find a way forward.

I’m looking forward to reconnecting with those I’ve worked with over the years and meeting others who want to learn more about Apex Recovery and what we’re doing.

If you or a loved one is struggling I will go the ends of the world to help you find the right care that is needed and deserved. Don’t hesitate to reach out.

The most powerful lessons I’d tell my younger self: 👇

1. Call your parents. They’re getting older, and you don’t have as much time left together as you think. Make each moment count.

2. People assume watches and cars are luxuries. But the real luxuries in life are slow mornings, a healthy body, and a house full of love.

3. Comparison is the thief of joy. Social media makes you wish you were somewhere else or with someone else. That’s the fastest path to unhappiness.

4. Don’t be impressed by followers or money. Be impressed by people who are humble and generous.

5. The person you will be in 5 years is a direct result of the people you meet, books you read, and actions you take now. (Choose wisely.)

6. When deciding your career path, look at who’s at the top of the ladder. Ask yourself if that’s the lifestyle you really want before you start climbing.

7. You don’t get what you deserve. You get what you negotiate. If what you’re asking for doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable, it’s not enough.

8. Your phone is your biggest distraction, and it will probably hold you back from achieving your goals. Put it on Do Not Disturb and focus on what matters.

9. Travel. You’ll never have as few responsibilities as you do right now. Take it every year that you’ll tell people about at dinner parties for the rest of your life.

10. The way you treat your body now will determine your injuries, medical bills, and energy levels in your 60s+.

11. Always be reading a good book. If you read 20 pages a day, you’ll finish ~25 books in a year while everyone else is scrolling through brain rot. Just 1 of those could change your life.

12. Only take advice from people who have even bigger visions for your life than you do.

13. The healthiest relationships are made up of two individual people with their own hobbies, goals, friend groups, and passions.

14. Trust your track record. You have a 100% success rate at getting through tough times. How do I know? Because you’re here. You’re reading this right now.

15. Don’t box yourself in by thinking you can only excel at what you already know. Life is full of untapped potential. Embrace new challenges and step outside your comfort zone. You might discover hidden talents and passions that can transform your journey. Growth happens when you push boundaries, so be open to the unexpected and watch yourself flourish!

Today, I had the chance to go to the Hamilton County Courthouse to help someone dealing with mental health and substance use issues. I've been in that courtroom a few times before, as Judge Steelman was my judge. Back when I was struggling with addiction, I made the terrible choice to rob three pharmacies, which led to me having to serve time. After serving my time, I got out on probation but ended up violating it because I picked up more drug charges in Georgia. That was the last time I saw Judge Steelman until today.

Today felt like a full-circle moment as I stood in that courtroom, advocating for a young man who needed a voice. I was called to the stand and sworn in, where I talked about Harmony and how we could support him. I shared my own experience, explaining that I once stood in those same shackles and jumpsuit at that podium, with no one advocating for me except myself and a lawyer. I told the Judge that he sentenced me 15 years ago, and I went to a place like Harmony that changed my life. Now, almost seven years later, I’ve dedicated my life to helping others who are in similar situations.

At the end of it all, the Judge looked at me and said he was really proud of everything I’ve achieved. He then approved the young man to leave jail and get help at Harmony. His mother was in tears and thanked me for my support. This is why I love what I do—moments like these remind me to feel grateful. God is great!
