In this role, he is leading a bold turnaround effort focused on academic achievement, character development, and building a thriving culture where boys are inspired, supported, and prepared for life.
Kemp is a passionate, award-winning educator, Hall of Fame coach, speaker, and transformational leader. Mr. Kemp was raised as one of six children in a single-parent, migrant worker’s home in Riverhead, NY. The former collegiate football player earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Colgate University and a master’s degree in independent school leadership from Vanderbilt’s Peabody College.
Troy’s career includes 24 years on the faculty at McCallie, an all-boys school in Chattanooga, Tennessee. At McCallie, he served as a teacher, dorm parent, and administrator, while coaching his teams to a state championship in football and eight titles in lacrosse.
After serving as associate headmaster, he became the founding executive director of the National Center for the Development of Boys (NCDB), an organization dedicated to improving the lives of boys by equipping parents, educators, mentors, and youth organizations with resources to support their development into responsible young men.
In 2019, Troy joined the nationally acclaimed Ron Clark Academy (RCA) in South Atlanta, where he served as the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships. During his time at RCA, he led professional development events, delivered keynote addresses, and facilitated educator training sessions that reached more than 100,000 parents, teachers, coaches, counselors, law enforcement professionals, and youth advocates across 40 states and five countries.
