Just an update for our 2023-2024 Packing dates. We will pack the Second Wedn of August 2023 due to our building is in use on the first Wedn. The remaining months we will pack on the first Wedn of each month.. We will pack from 10 a.m. - noon and then again from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Come join the fun and help us get the school year started.

Our ministry was started 4 years ago after hearing about Hamilton County School Children being food insecure. The national average for food insecure people is 1 out of 5, but in Hamilton Co. the average is 1 out of 4. There are approximately 44,000 children in the Hamilton Co. Schools, so there are possibly 11,000 of those 44,000 who are food insecure. Our ministry has grown from 150 bags a week to 1850 bags a week for the 2018-2019 school year. We are currently serving 13 schools in Hamilton Co.
Our ministry is an all volunteer ministry with people from our church and from the community. We welcome people to come and set up the packing stations and pack with us. The bags are packed once a month on the first Wedn. of each month during the school year. The set up time will start at 9 a.m. (this is when the trucks unload and we take the food straight to the tables) and then at 6:30 pm. we will start packing the bags. The bags are stored and then they are delivered to each school on Thursdays. They are distributed to the students on Friday so they will have food for the week end.
The packing dates for the 2018-2019 school year are as follows: August 8, 2018 ** Sept. 5, 2018, Oct. 3, 2018, Nov. 7, 2018 , Dec. 5, 2018, Jan. 9, 2019 **, Feb. 6, 2019, March 6, 2019, April 3, 2019 and May 1, 2019. (note that Aug. 8, 2018 and Jan. 9, 2019 are the second Wedn)
We have helped additional churches start their own program, and we are willing to speak with other churches to help them get started. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested in starting a program.
We also need sponsors. It cost $80.00 a school year to feed one child and we have a yearly budget of $148,000 and we need help raising that money. We have the cost of the bags at about $2.00 a bag. We would love to come and talk with anyone about helping us sponsor the children. Please give us a call and we will be glad to do that.
