A Transgender Day of Remembrance Service will be held Wednesday, Nov 20th at 7:00pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Chattanooga, 3224 Navajo Dr 37411. This is a day to remember those who have been killed because of their gender identity. These crimes are seldom solved or receive the attention they deserve. We will have a quiet service to honor all the beautiful lives lost this year.
The service will be hosted by the UUCC Lay Pastoral Care Team with help from others. Everyone wishing to attend is also invited to our quiet weekly 5:30 meditation and 6:00pm potluck before the service starts. Feel free to invite connections in the larger community who might be interested.
Blessings all,
Pam

Here is a handy form letter you can COPY and PASTE and fill in your relevant information to address the city council and/or your specific representative. Make sure you fill in the blanks and include your full address and information. This way council members know they are hearing from people in their district.

Subject line: Please, support partner benefits and non-discrimination

Dear Council Member ____________,

As a resident of Chattanooga, I am writing to urge you to vote YES on the proposal to provide partner benefits and a non-discrimination policy that includes sexual orientation and gender identity for city government employees when it is proposed.

I believe that these changes will help make sure that we can attract and retain the best employees to serve the people of our city. These are steps toward basic fairness.

A majority of the Fortune 500 companies have already made these changes and I think it is time for Chattanooga to catch up.

Please, let me know if you would like to discuss these issues.

Thank you,

EEC meeting at Green Spaces on Main Street at 7pm!

10/25/2012

Don't forget, the meeting is tonight! Come with your ideas for what we need to have in order to effectively support a thriving, diverse, and growing LGBTQQIA community here in the Chattanooga area.

10/25/2012

The conversation at our last meeting centered around defining what a community is. We discussed how we support one another and what a community should provide for those who are a part of it. Tonight's meeting will be a continuation of that conversation, but we'll be looking at things in more concrete terms. Think about what would have to be in place to facilitate a viable, sustainable, and healthy community here in the Chattanooga area. Bring those ideas to the meeting tonight. Every voice is crucial as we move forward in strengthening, building, and maintaining community; so please attend and invite anyone who may be interested in participating.
