The official ornament of the city of Chattanooga for 2026 is the newly rennovated (and very missed) Walnut Street Bridge!

All sales help benefit Hart Gallery programming which provides hope and opportunity through art to artists living with mental and physical disabilities, experiencing homelessness, fleeing abusive situations, and many other underserved populations so they can create and sell their artwork for their benefit. Ornaments can be purchased in-store or online at hartgallery.org.

We want to extend a huge thank you to Keith Fawcett and Greg Haynes for teaching this months Artist4Artist class. Our artists had a blast learning how to layer acrylic paint, paper, gold leaf, and modge podge to create textured collages.

We are looking for new teaching artists for these classes! Have a skill or technique you'd like to share? We would love to have you! Artist4Artist classes take place the 2nd wednesday of each month from 1-3 p.m. To become a teacher, call (423) 521-4707.

An award that is truly deserved!

As the founder of HART Gallery TN, Ellen Heavilon has spent years making a difference in the Chattanooga community by using art as a tool for connection, expression, and opportunity.

With a background in special education and a lifelong commitment to volunteering, Ellen was inspired to start HArt Gallery in 2009 after seeing a piece of public art created by individuals experiencing homelessness. That moment sparked an idea to provide art supplies and an opportunity for these individuals to share and sell their work.

Since then, she has helped create opportunities for individuals facing barriers, including people experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, disabled veterans, and those living with mental and physical challenges.

Through its partnership with the AIM Center, HArt Gallery has supported so many of our members in exploring their creativity, sharing their stories, and discovering new possibilities through artistic expression. Over the years, we've had the privilege of collaborating on special projects and witnessing firsthand the impact of Ellen's vision and HART Gallery's work in our community.

We're proud to recognize Ellen for her lasting contributions and the meaningful connections she's helped foster through art. Join us on October 29 at the Mental Health Hero Awards as we celebrate Ellen and the incredible individuals and organizations making a difference in mental health, recovery, and our community. ✨
