SAVE THE DATE: TENNESSEE RIVER RESCUE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3RD!

This monumental event is not just a cleanup, it’s a cherished tradition in the fight against litter polluting our waterways.

Last year alone, over 1,500 dedicated individuals helped remove more than 58,000 pounds of litter from the river and its tributaries. This collective action, spanning 65 cleanup projects across Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama, demonstrates the profound impact volunteers and regional collaboration can have towards tackling pollution.

The Old Ladies Against Underwater Garbage estimate they’ve removed 6,000 pounds of refuse from ponds on Cape Cod. Members have to be at least 64 and able to swim half a mile in under 30 minutes and free dive to eight feet. “It’s the best feeling,” one said. https://nyti.ms/3T5ScRK

Amazing effort!!!

Talk about a big impact for ! Earth Day Awareness Week presented by Nobody Trashes Tennessee with myTDOT and Tennessee Valley Authority team members on Chickamauga Lake of the Tennessee River.

Both groups always deliver at our cleanups and they sure did this year! Their haul included 155 bags of litter, 63 tires, 4 semi tires, 5 large dock floats, 279 lbs. of scrap metal, 80.5 square feet of dock foam, a 50-foot irrigation hose, 130 lbs. of muddy carpet, a tent, and much more!

A big thanks to the City of Soddy-Daisy - Government for donating the dumpster for this cleanup that was filled to the brim! We also want to thank our partners at Keep Soddy-Daisy Beautiful for including all of the tires we collected in their 3rd Annual Recycling Event.

We also had Keep TN River Beautiful board members Suzanne Fisher from TVA and Missy Marshall from Keep Tennessee Beautiful participate in the cleanup. It was surreal to have this cleanup with TVA, TDOT, and Keep Tennessee Beautiful, the three founding agencies that, 10 years ago, helped to form our nonprofit Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful, the 1st Keep America Beautiful affiliate in the nation to focus solely on a river.

More than anything, we want to thank all of the amazing team members who came out to put in hard work and sweat for their river. You all ROCK!
