2025 was a WHOLE MOOD at The Unfoundation! ✨🚀

We spent the year leaning into the "Un" and doing things differently. From moving into our first-ever building (hello, conference room! 👋) to making sure our meetings were accessible with on-site childcare, we are growing in all the right ways.

The 2025 Highlight Reel: ✅ $47,000 back into the hands of local projects. ✅ 1,385 of you voted for your favorite "Do Gooders." ✅ 100+ neighbors showed up to celebrate at our first big event.

We’re proving that when you trust the community to lead, amazing things happen. We learned things, we tried things, and together, we funded BIG things! 💥

Which part of the reel was your favorite? Let us know in the comments! 👇

💥NOVEMBER GRANT WINNER ALERT

Say hello to L.o.L — Loads of Laundry, a community care mic-drop moment by Diamonds and Denim.

Here’s the tea: Laundry is expensive, dignity shouldn’t be.

So Diamonds and Denim created free community laundry days across Chattanooga—twice a month, real impact, zero shame.

This isn’t just about socks and hoodies.

It’s about showing up to interviews confident.

Kids going to school feeling fresh.

Families breathing easier.

One load at a time, this project is making Chattanooga cleaner, kinder, and more human.

We love a glow-up that spins on a washer cycle.

Congrats to Diamonds and Denim, this is what doing good looks like. 🫶🧺✨

Say hello to our latest troublemaker-for-good winner…
jpeg, he snagged $3,000 to help kids actually walk to school without dodging traffic like it’s a sport.

His project, Safe Pathways to School, is transforming Hawthorne Avenue in Highland Park with safer intersections and community-powered street fixes.

The team has the plan, the volunteers, and the momentum…

What they didn’t have? Affordable barricades, because apparently renting a few pieces of plastic costs more than a weekend getaway. 🙄

So we handed them $3,000 to buy ten Type III barricades, outright—meaning:

• They can finish all six intersections

• Future neighborhood projects get a free or low-cost boost

• And Chattanooga gets one step closer to becoming a city where walking is normal, not a heroic act

These barricades won’t just block cars—they’ll open doors.

Envision block parties. Play streets. Safety demos.

Cute little neighborhood moments that don’t require a permit and a prayer.

Congrats, Jon Jon—go make Chattanooga’s streets safer, friendlier, and way more fun. 🙌🏼

📣August Grant Announcement!

Congrats to the team behind the Food Forest at the East Lake Neighborhood Association Community Center! 🌳

This amazing group of parents, teachers, and neighbors is turning a sunny patch of grass into a lush food forest - a space for learning, pollinators, and free fruit for the community.

With their $3,000 grant, they’ll plant figs, pears, and persimmons, improve the soil, and grow something beautiful (and edible!) for East Lake.

🌱 Want to get involved? Join their Food Forest & Pollinator Workdays every Monday throughout October, 3–5:30 PM at the East Lake Neighborhood Association Community Center!

Here’s to greener spaces and neighbors who dig in together! 🌍

🍎Big win for big hearts!

We’re proud to share that Hamilton County Schools Foundation snagged the $3000 July grant to fuel HCS Talent Retention & Culture Initiatives, expanding this fall.

This program isn’t just about keeping great teachers in the classroom — it’s about giving them the mentorship, professional development, and community they deserve.

Think of it as professional growth with a side of inspiration.✨

When educators feel supported, students feel it too.

And that’s a return on investment you can’t put a price tag on (though we’ll gladly start with $3000).

‼️GRANT ANNOUNCEMENT‼️

The Sattva Project received a $3,000 grant from the UNFoundation—and they’re using it to expand access to something deeper than just movement.

This program offers trauma-informed yoga rooted in relationship, accountability, and healing justice.

Classes are led by trained volunteers—many of whom carry lived experience with the carceral or recovery systems—and held in spaces where healing has too often been withheld: jails, recovery homes, and parole programs.

So far they’ve held 135+ classes with Nearly 900 students and with 100% volunteer staff.

This is a project that is 100% community-driven!

The UNFoundation grant will help them provide essential supplies, modest teacher stipends, and outreach to reach more people.

The Sattva Project just launched their first trauma-informed teacher training on July 17, supporting 20 new teachers to continue this work with care.

The Sattva project isn’t selling yoga as self-care, they’re practicing it as community repair.

Congratulations !

The UNFoundation’s Inaugural Do-Gooder Awards: A Fun Recap! 🏆✨
Better late than never to relive some incredible moments! We’re still buzzing from our very first Do-Gooder Awards event on June 4th, where we celebrated the amazing individuals making a real difference in our community.

It was an evening filled with inspiration as we honored our incredible finalists – each a true “Do-Gooder” in every sense of the word! We were thrilled to award grants to all three of our phenomenal finalists, recognizing their unwavering commitment to positive change.

We were excited to present our third-place honoree with a $500 grant to East Side Elementary, and our second-place recipient with a $1,000 grant to Downside Up! And, as you know, our incredible grand prize winner took home a $3,000 grant to Semillas TN thanks to your votes and their outstanding contributions! Their dedication truly embodies the spirit of giving back.

A massive thank you to everyone who nominated a “Do-Gooder,” cast their votes, and joined us for this special night. Your support made our first annual awards a tremendous success, and we can’t wait to see the impact these grants will have!

Swipe/scroll through for some belated, but wonderful, snapshots from the event!
