Today, Tennessee — and the world — mourns the loss of a true icon, Dolly Parton.

From her humble beginnings in the Smoky Mountains to becoming one of the most beloved figures in American culture, Dolly never forgot where she came from. She carried Tennessee with her everywhere she went and represented our state with warmth, faith, humor, generosity, and an unmistakable spirit.

Her legacy reaches far beyond the music that became the soundtrack to generations. Through her extraordinary commitment to literacy, education, healthcare, and her fellow Tennesseans, Dolly showed us what it means to use success in service of others. Her Imagination Library alone has placed hundreds of millions of books into the hands of children around the world.

For those of us who call Tennessee home, Dolly was more than an entertainer. She was one of ours. She reminded the world that you can dream big, work hard, remain humble, and never forget the people and places that helped shape you.

The Tennessee Chapter, NECA joins our fellow Tennesseans in celebrating the remarkable life of Dolly Parton and extending our deepest sympathies to her family, friends, and all who loved her.

Her music will live on. Her generosity will continue changing lives. And her light will forever shine brightly across Tennessee.

This morning, we learned the heartbreaking news that our dear friend, AJ Pearson, passed away last night and was welcomed with loving arms by His Lord and Savior.

AJ was a friend, mentor, and inspiration to so many of us. For those who may not have had the privilege of knowing him, AJ was truly a titan of the electrical industry. His life's work was dedicated to serving the electrical industry, with a passion that centered on training and developing the next generation of electricians.

AJ served as the Executive Director of the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC), now known as the electrical training ALLIANCE. Following his retirement, he returned home to East Tennessee, where he continued his life's mission as the Training Director for the Electricians Training Academy of Knoxville. He poured his heart into helping others succeed, believing that a career in the electrical industry could transform lives.

AJ's leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to education did not go unnoticed. In recognition of his extraordinary service and lasting impact, the Tennessee Chapter NECA proudly honored him as the first non-member ever to receive our President's Award for Leadership in the Electrical Industry—an honor that reflected the tremendous respect and admiration he earned throughout his career.

While AJ's accomplishments were remarkable, those who knew him will remember him most for his kindness, humility, wisdom, and genuine love for people. His influence will continue to be felt through the countless apprentices, instructors, contractors, and industry leaders whose lives he touched.

Our thoughts and prayers are with AJ's family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to shape our industry for generations to come.

Another great Tennessee Chapter, NECA Chattanooga Division Fish Fry yesterday!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Annual NECA Fish Fry, hosted by the Chattanooga JATC at their outstanding training lab facility. Chattanooga Electrical Apprenticeship and Training Center

With more than 80 attendees representing our NECA contractor members, it was a great afternoon of fellowship, networking, and strengthening relationships across our industry.

We were especially honored to welcome Congressman Chuck Fleischmann, along with members of his staff, and Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp and his staff. We sincerely appreciate them taking time out of their busy schedules to visit with our members and support the electrical construction industry.

As always, Uncle Larry’s Restaurant served an incredible fish dinner that everyone enjoyed!

Thank you to the Chattanooga Electrical Apprenticeship for hosting, to Uncle Larry’s for another fantastic meal, and to everyone who attended and helped make this year’s Fish Fry such a success. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
