The LCAA community is mourning the loss of Shane Morrow, whose presence, convictions, and generosity of spirit left a lasting mark on the people and community around him.

As co-founder and Executive Director of RISE Chattanooga, Shane did more than advocate for equality and justice. He lived those values openly and unapologetically. His work reflected a deep belief in the dignity of others and in the possibility of building a community where more people could be seen, heard, and valued.

Shane was a proud member of Leadership Chattanooga’s Class of 2024 ( ). He brought thoughtfulness and perspective to the Class, but he also brought something harder to define: a warmth, a playful grin, and a joyful spirit that made people feel fortunate to be in his presence.

Some people leave behind accomplishments. Others leave behind a way of seeing the world that continues to shape those who knew them. Shane leaves us with both.

We are grateful for the time we had with him, and for the lasting imprint he leaves on Chattanooga and the many lives he touched.

Hear from Robert Morris, LC’22 and LCAA’s President-Elect:

“Leadership, at its core, is not defined by position, it is defined by responsibility, consistency, and the willingness to act when it matters most.

That experience did not end with the program. It continues to influence how I lead today, how I approach decisions, and how I invest in others. As I step into the role of LCAA President, my focus is on strengthening that same leadership pipeline, ensuring we continue to develop leaders who are not only capable, but grounded, accountable, and committed to serving this community with clarity and purpose.

Leadership Chattanooga is not something you complete, it is a standard you are expected to live, and a responsibility to lead forward.”
