The masonry industry and ETMA were well represented at the AIA Tennessee State Convention in Chattanooga this week! Out of 10 sponsors, 3 were masonry!! General Shale - Acme Brick, Tile & Stone - Knoxville, TN - ACME Block & Brick were all present to support the architectural community and keep masonry in front of them.

We had a great day with 23 summer camp students at Construction Career Center HS in Chattanooga! Great turnout from our members from Willocks Brothers Co., Inc., ACME Block & Brick, and Masonry Institute of Tennessee.

The Chattanooga Masonry Association also had a great group in attendance including Jenkins Masonry Inc, and Masonry Specialist Corporation. Having industry professionals working alongside these students makes a tremendous impact and helps show them what our trade is all about.

It’s about Investing in students and teaching them about masonry! Great day!!

Last week, our members of ACME Block & Brick and the Masonry Institute of Tennessee had the opportunity in collaboration with Leadership Roane County to participate in Camp Build It, a new summer camp in Roane County.

It was a great day introducing students to careers in the masonry industry through hands-on learning and showing them the many opportunities available in construction. We’re proud to invest in the next generation of skilled trades!

Across the construction industry, contractors are facing a growing challenge: finding and training the next generation of skilled professionals. For masonry, a craft rooted in both technical expertise and hands-on experience, the need for strong workforce pipelines is especially critical.

It’s nice to see how other associations and masonry organizations connect with the next generation!
