Tiny Homes for the Unhoused People Our mission is to facilitate stable housing and resources for unsheltered Veterans in the Chattanooga area

A few months ago I was asked for help by Jon, an unsheltered Veteran in Chattanooga. We met at the VA where he was turned away. After several months of looking for him I got a call yesterday from his sister saying he is in jail for trespassing and has burns that are not being treated. Tomorrow morning I will be at court as his advocate to help get him out of jail and into a home. He has an attorney and a social worker, but he still needs my (our) help in getting him into a home. I have all the contacts lined up, but it will be a process.

This is the sad reality for many unsheltered Veterans in and around Chattanooga. No home except for a jail cell? I think we can do better. If you want to help, let me know.

Remember when we built those tiny homes in Chattanooga? They seem to look a lot like these being built in Ashville, NC. Obviously these are much nicer, and obviously they are working together without zoning restrictions or a corrupt Mayor Tim Kelly. I could not spend a lot on each house because I knew they would be torn down by him. You can be a democrat and still vote for the best candidate in the ballot booth and keep your friends, and even keep our unsheltered friends alive. These people are taking care of their neighbors. I know that we could have done this without the threat of arrest to stop us in Chattanooga. People are people no matter where they come from or how they live. We all deserve a home, as humans. We are not animals and are not to be left in the cold. If you normally vote left, just make sure this time you make the right choice.

I am working this disaster in North Carolina. This photo was from another FB post, not my photo or job site, just saw this and loved to see people being free to do what is right in their community for others. Common Sense goes a long way. I will drive 300 miles to help these folks for winter, as they are now unsheltered too. Let me know if you want to help or donate. Just send a message.Thank you. Joshua David Kapellusch

Hello,

PSA:

Urgent flood assistance is needed in Northeastern Tennessee and Northwestern North Carolina. I (Joshua Kapellusch) arrived in Boone, NC yesterday from Chattanooga to volunteer with Samaritan's Purse and the Red Cross.

We set up a team to collect supplies through the page "Dade Helps!" with John Huffman as the point of contact in the Chattanooga area. I will be onsite in Boone, NC until Thursday or Friday then will return to the Chattanooga area to retrieve supplies unless plans change. Additional team members are available to help with collecting supplies as we have a strong, proven ministry team. You may also drop off supplies at VFW POST 4848 on Amnicola Hwy.

Before leaving I set up a GoFundMe page for further assistance. So far we have raised $510.00 through private donations.

More is needed. Please share this message and ways to help. Supplies needed include: toiletries, hygiene items, clothes, blankets, feminine products, baby supplies, flashlights, batteries, backpacks, ets. Supplies will be donated to Samaritan's Purse and the Red Cross. Financial donations support the costs of onsite work in Boone, NC.

My phone number is 423.414.8233. Due to limited cell service I may experience some lack of access, but cellular service is available. Please respond to this email or phone number with questions and share this message to assist Americans in need.

Thank you very much! God bless you!

Hello, my name is Joshua Kapellusch- veteran, community volunteer, Chaplain, and father. Northeastern Tennessee has been devistated by the rain from hurricane Helene and Americans are experiencing life-threatening situations right now. Extreme flooding, storm damage, and power loss are affecting emergency services.

The mission is to provide immediate "boots on the ground" services to locate and reach people who are trapped in their homes, without power or utilities. This is a developing disaster and our mission is to make contact with people for wellness checks, facilitate emergency services, and provide short-term resources to prevent death and suffering such as water and flashlights.

This is a grassroots effort. We need your financial support to cover the costs of fuel, supplies, manpower, and other resources to facilitate care between rescue services and people in remote locations. This is a developing situation.

In the past I have raised over $3,000 with this app for sheltering homeless people in the Chattanooga area with a team of 30 plus volunteers. Additionally, I have raised thousands more for veteran projects and community projects: Tiny Homes for the Unhoused People and the Fallen 5 Drive. (whatsthup.org and fallen5drive.org, also on Facebook).

I am located within a few hours of the disaster area and am called to help now. I will be riding a motorcycle to remote locations and will begin bringing other supplies once the roads are clear. The mission will be for the next forseeable weeks as the damages are observed! Any support helps! Let's show the world what it means to be an American! God bless all of you! Thank you! Reach out with any resources.

I made the 30th speech at Chattanooga City Hall for our unsheltered friends with an emphasis on Veterans. July 16th was a day 9 years ago that we experienced a terrorist attack in Chattanooga and it was devastating. I founded an annual event every year since then to help heal our community and my own heart. I care very much about the wellbeing of our veterans and military. Love is WHY. Dear Friends,

Our unsheltered friends are never far from my mind and I am sure everyone who supported us in our missions are still concerned about our unsheltered friends as well. This simple website has allowed us to connect with so many people in a way that literally saved countless American lives, including veterans. The posts, pictures, videos, stories, and general information shared here was always intended to assist those that needed help the most - our unsheltered friends. It was my full intention to maximize our resources to help the most people. What do you think is the biggest need in Chattanooga right now for our unsheltered friends, especially veterans?

Sometimes the most obvious solution is the most difficult to achieve. There was never an intent to begin any political engagements with the City of Chattanooga, except for the problem to be made public and then resolved by those in government wholly or partially responsible and employed to do so. The multitude of service organizations from the government and non-government agencies is quite large and capable of serving our unsheltered citizens, however there seemed to be a misalignment with funding, legal authority, zoning, and what some would call dirty or corrupt politics.

Generally, we had no issues with 95% of whom we dealt with an except for a few administrative-appointed cabinet members of Mayor Tim Kelly. It is my personal suspicion that the directives for action or inaction came from Tim Kelly and the personal (public) agendas of a few people. In politics blame shifting and divisions are created to elude the public from the truth. When I investigated public statements or articles, I often found an incongruent reality compared to published media. This began a journey that discovered so much truth it could not be ignored. Sadly, the result was increased longsuffering, horrific abuses, and even losses of life due to the harsh conditions created by this administration.

Politics puts people last and ineffective agendas propagandized first. This was the unfortunate reality in Chattanooga with the Kelly administration. City Council and so many others have stepped up to fill the void and really get some great things going. I once called out the Mayor in a news article to “Lead, follow, or get out of the way”. This also applies to me. With the problem front and center on the main “www.chattanooga.gov” website, my job was complete. It takes a lot of time and careful research to implement plans. I took a sabbatical to recover from personal attacks, hardship, and what is termed “compassion fatigue.” I cared so much I had nothing left to give. To continue growing in the past year-plus, I attended medical classes and an MBA course in the healthcare management program to better serve our citizens.

Behind the scenes we have been working with partner organizations and individuals to build permanent housing for unsheltered veterans. We have made more meaningful progress in every area outside of Chattanooga that it only confirms my suspicion; dirty politics were at play. Two other counties near Chattanooga have been working to build 4 tiny homes, a group home, and an additional 6 to 8 apartment units for veterans with our help. Additionally, one of our team members is now employed in a service roll in which any veteran can go to a home in Chattanooga on an emergency basis. Reach out if you know of a veteran in Chattanooga needs help.

From here I do not want to see politicians keep people homeless so they can get federal dollars based on numbers of homeless people. I do not want to see Mayor Tim Kelly use homeless veterans as a political pawn in which 50 veteran sleep outside on Chattanooga sidewalks every night so he can get federal money or grandstand on their backs.. Suspiciously the proposal for the Freedom Homestead proposes a $25 million dollar price tag and is proposed so far out that it is only after the election the “groundbreaking” will occur, yet no grounds have been secured. There has not been a mention of the project status since November, 2023 to my knowledge. Crickets… it seems like another political play. I hope and trust the non-profit can get to work asap. What is different is that Mayor Tim Kelly is even willing to let veterans suffer and die in Chattanooga for a political gain and financial gain. Sadly, Mayor Tim Kelly was too busy to attend Captain Larry Taylor’s funeral on February 7th, 2024.

We are building teams to go and rescue veterans in Chattanooga to bring them out of the city to much safer locations without the politics and empty promises. I have learned to not post details on here as some of my team was persecuted by the Kelly Administration and we were being spied on. For the most part, just know we are working hard behind the scenes to do our best for our veterans! God is with us!

Without saying too much we are creating a team of unstoppable loving community members who are successful, have resources, experience, and most of all - care and are capable of getting the job done. We will most likely always have unsheltered veterans, but we will ensure they always have a home in the county they fought for, so help me God! God bless all of you and if you want to help, reach out! Thank you all and I love all of you!
