Work of Place

Work of Place What would it look like for these churches to offer up the use of their commercial kitchens for chefs and bakers who are starting a restaurant or food truck?

There is an epidemic of hope in many of our neighborhoods and yet those neighborhoods are full of folks who dream big dreams and yet are sadly resigned to think that because they are without the possibility of partnership or support, they will remain stuck. What would it look like if inner city and urban churches took an intentional look at their facilities and parceled out an area to create a co-

working space for new entrepreneurs? To offer up a small portion of their parking lots to an entrepreneur starting a car detailing operation? To offer up their multi-purpose room to a dance instructor or a Sunday School room to an artist who needs some studio space or a jewelry maker that wants to open an Etsy shop? To offer their sanctuary for band practice or a small room for a therapist, life coach or consultant to work during the week? What would it look like for church members to crowd source a small, zero-interest start-up loan ($2000 or less) for a visionary entrepreneur who utilized their building? Can anchor institutions be about the work of place? We don't just believe that can. We believe they must.
