Chorus Angelorum Chattanooga

Chorus Angelorum Chattanooga Chorus Angelorum is Chattanooga's premier chamber ensemble with free performances of varying genres. Chorus Angelorum strives to fill the hole this caused.

The Chorus Angelorum Chorus and Chamber Choir are comprised of several of the area's best amateur and professional vocalists. The ensemble was formed in early 2020 with the intent of safely providing online choral concerts, both sacred and secular, during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past year, several prominent choral organizations in our community postponed, canceled, and have yet to

resume performances. Even as things begin to return to normal, Chorus Angelorum continues to fill a role in the Chattanooga Arts community, through both virtual and live performances. Many members of the ensemble find their primary occupation in fields outside of music, yet the remain extremely active in our community's musical events. Several members are also music educators and additionally maintain successful solo careers. All of the ensemble's singers are members of other local choirs such as the Chattanooga Bach Choir, Choral Arts Society, Opera Tennessee, and CSO Chorus, as well as participants in various church choirs. Chorus Angelorum is under the artistic direction of Janelle Wigal Wagoner.

Finishing the series of releases of our performance of Rheinberger's Mass in E-Flat:

The most remarkable texture is saved for the end: The Agnus Dei brings the Mass to a deeply moving close. Opening in a subdued minor mode – one of only two movements to do so – it captures the humility and earnestness of the repeated plea for mercy. Rheinberger gradually thickens the texture, at the entrance of the “dona nobis pacem” (“grant us peace”), layering imitative flowing motifs over sustained harmonic textures, as if the prayer is rippling outward. The final “pacem” unfolds in rich sustained notes, enveloping the listener in a sense of serene resolution. The movement’s symphonic breadth and emotional arc give the Mass a conclusive majesty that lingers long after the final chord.

Stay tuned for the YouTube Playlist containing all movements in the morning!

There are voices that define a generation, and then there are souls who reshape the world through sheer kindness, melody, and grace. Today, our hearts are heavy as we join countless others across the globe in saying goodbye to the incomparable Dolly Parton.

Dolly wasn’t just a songwriter and a cultural icon. She was a beacon of resilience, humility, and boundless generosity. From the mountains of East Tennessee to every corner of the earth, she taught us how to tell honest stories, give freely without condition, and lift one another up through song.

When the world feels heavy, Dolly’s music has always pointed us toward the dawn. We hope these harmonies offer a moment of comfort, reflection, and peace as we celebrate a legacy that will continue to inspire generations of singers and dreamers.

Thank you, Dolly, for the music, the laughter, the kindness, and a lifetime of clear blue mornings. Rest in peace. 🕊️✨

We’ve all accidentally made uncomfortable, unbroken eye contact with a front-row concertgoer while singing a deeply sensual piece.

What’s your move?
👍: Hold the gaze to assert absolute dominance.
❤️: Panic-stare at the emergency exit sign for the next four minutes.
😮: Transfer the intense feelings of love from the song to the individual, fake your own death, eliminate their lover, disguise yourself as their lover, get married, only revealing yourself months later when the specific mask glue company you use goes under and you cannot find a suitable replacement.

Continuing the series of releases of our performance of Rheinberger's Mass in E-Flat:

The Benedictus provides contrast in both character and motion, adopting a gentle, waltz-like feel. Its lilted phrasing and lighter texture offer a moment of grace and intimacy while maintaining reverence.

Continuing the series of releases of our performance of Rheinberger's Mass in E-Flat:

The Sanctus opens with an ethereal ascending motif, marked by high and low choir antiphony, evoking the awe and stillness of the text. Though clearly inspired by Renaissance ideals, the harmonies are unmistakably Romantic – rich, warm, and emotionally expansive.
