The Walker County Sheriff's Office will once again face off in a friendly competition with the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office to help save lives during the annual “Battle of the Badges” blood drive on Thursday, June 25.
The blood drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the front parking lot of the Walker County Sheriff’s Office. Organizers said walk-ups are welcome throughout the day.
The annual event partners with Blood Assurance and encourages residents to donate blood while supporting their local sheriff’s office. Walker County officials said community members have strongly supported the event in recent years and hope to reach a goal of 85 donors this year.
Donors who give blood during June will receive an emailed $25 eGift card through Blood Assurance.
Appointments may be scheduled online through Blood Assurance Appointment Scheduler at donor.bloodassurance.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/178517, though organizers emphasized that appointments are not required.
Officials remind donors that contributions only count toward the agency where the donation is made, either at the Walker County Sheriff’s Office parking lot or the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office parking lot.
