Bundles of Kindness

Bundles of Kindness My name is Rachael. My efforts to help people who are homeless have been reported in local and national news. I even delivered full meals from my family kitchen.

In 2018, as part of my Bat Mitzvah preparation as a 13 year old, I organized a community project to provide care packages for people who are homeless in Los Angeles. With the help of about 60 large companies, small businesses and nonprofit organizations, I exceeded my goal of assembling over 100 care packages throughout many parts of Los Angeles. I am super excited to be in the process of assembli

ng 500 care packages and look forward to helping more people who are facing homelessness in Los Angeles. Here's the Back Story of Bundles of Kindness:

According to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, in 2020 there were 66,436 people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County. Over the last several years in my day-to-day life, I have witness homeless men, women, children and families battle homelessness. Because I believe that everyone deserves to have their basic needs met, I was compelled to personally do something to make a difference. When I was younger, I made many small efforts to help by giving snacks to people in need whenever my family and I were in the car. I also volunteered to make sandwiches with interfaith efforts to feed people who were hungry. This was all great, but I felt the need to do something more substantial. Boom! Bundles of Kindness was born! Thank you to all of the corporate and individual donors who are helping me help others!

More Behind the Scenes

We’re excited to share more photos from Bundles of Kindness and Project ReWear being featured on CBS News!

This feature shines a light on what can happen when organizations come together with a shared commitment to helping our community. Through our collaboration, clothing and shoes are kept out of landfills and put directly into the hands of adults, children, and families experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles.

Every donation has a purpose. Every item can make a difference. And every partnership helps us reach more people who need essential clothing and resources.

We’re incredibly grateful to Project ReWear for helping make this work possible and to CBS News for highlighting the importance of giving clothing a second life while helping people in need.

We’re incredibly grateful to CBS News for highlighting Bundles of Kindness and our efforts to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles.

A special thank you to Linda and Kim of Project ReWear for an awesome collaboration that creates a meaningful impact in two ways: keeping quality clothing out of landfills while helping ensure essential clothing and shoes reach people who need them most.

Together, we’ve been able to provide clothing and shoes to individuals and families, including children, experiencing homelessness.

Clean, appropriate clothing can make a real difference for children in need. Having clothes they feel comfortable and confident wearing can help remove a barrier to attending school causing higher attendance and a stronger sense of belonging.

This is what community collaboration looks like: less waste, more resources, and more dignity for people who need a helping hand.

Thank you, CBS News, for helping shine a light on this important work, and thank you, Project ReWear, for standing alongside Bundles of Kindness.

When we work together, we can turn what might otherwise be discarded into something truly valuable: an opportunity to help someone move forward.

Big Sunday generously donated 50 backpacks to Bundles of Kindness, helping provide children with something they need to start the school year feeling prepared, supported, and included.

Each backpack is filled with school essentials and given to a child who may be navigating the challenges of homelessness while also trying to focus on learning and being a kid.

A backpack may seem like a simple gift, but for a child, it can mean having the supplies they need, feeling ready for school, and not feeling left out.

We are grateful to Big Sunday for partnering with Bundles of Kindness to make a difference for local children and families.

Collaboration means coming together to make sure children in our community have the support they deserve.

Thank you, Ian and Emma, for helping Bundles of Kindness conduct inventory for Lois’ Paw Packs!

Lois’ Paw Packs will be assembled this fall for dogs and cats whose owners are experiencing homelessness. Each pack will provide much-needed supplies to help keep these beloved pets healthy, comfortable, and cared for.

We need your help to make this project possible. We are still seeking many more donations of pet brushes and pet dental hygiene supplies.

If you can help, please message us or check out the Bundles of Kindness Amazon Wish List. Every donation helps us care for pets and the people who love them.

For someone experiencing homelessness, a pet can be more than a companion, they can be a source of comfort, connection, and unconditional love.

Dogs and cats living with people experiencing homelessness are more common than many realize. For their owners, these pets can provide companionship and emotional support during an incredibly difficult time. And for the pets, their person is home.

That’s why donations of pet food matter.

Thank you, Debbie, for your generous donation of a case of cat food! Your kindness will help us fill Lois’ Paw Packs, care packages created specifically for people experiencing homelessness who are caring for beloved dogs and cats.

Every can of food helps a pet stay nourished and helps an unhoused pet owner continue caring for a companion who means so much to them. If you can, please check out the Bundles of Kindness Amazon Wish List (link in comments)

It may be more than 90 degrees in Los Angeles, but for someone experiencing homelessness, winter will be here before we know it.

It’s never too early to prepare for colder weather.

Bundles of Kindness is collecting winter coats, warm jackets, rain jackets, and other cold-weather clothing for adults and children experiencing homelessness. When temperatures drop and rain arrives, a warm, dry coat isn’t just clothing, it can mean protection from the elements, comfort, and a little more dignity during an incredibly difficult time.

We’re asking our community to help us collect new or gently used coats, rain jackets and umbrellas in all sizes, especially for children and families.

Have a coat or rain jacket you no longer need? Please message us to arrange a convenient drop-off of your donation. Want to host a collection? Just let us know.

Your donation could be the reason someone is warm and dry when the first cold or rainy night arrives.

The unused coat hanging unused in your closet could help keep someone experiencing homelessness warm this winter?

A huge thank you to Debbie for her generous donation of men’s and women’s underwear!

Underwear is one of the most requested, and most needed, items for people experiencing homelessness, yet it’s often one of the hardest essentials keep enough of. Your kindness will help restore comfort, dignity, and confidence to our neighbors facing difficult circumstances.

Thank you, Debbie, for making a meaningful difference in our community.

Want to help? Donations of new underwear, socks, hygiene items, and pet supplies are always appreciated and go directly to people and pets in need.

What essential item do you think people experiencing homelessness need most but is often overlooked?
