When we think about HPV (Human Papillomavirus), we usually think of cervical cancer. But here’s a crucial fact: HPV is now a leading cause of oropharyngeal cancers (cancer in the back of the throat, tonsils, and tongue). 👅

In fact, HPV-related oral cancers are rising, especially among men. The good news? They are often highly preventable and treatable when caught early.

3 Things You Can Do Today:

1️⃣ Get Vaccinated: The HPV vaccine is a powerhouse at preventing the strains that cause these cancers. It’s most effective when given young, but adults up to age 45 can still benefit! 💉
2️⃣ Check Your Mouth: During your next dental cleaning, ask your dentist for an oral cancer screening. It’s quick, painless, and saves lives. 🩺
3️⃣ Know the Signs: Keep an eye out for a persistent sore throat, earaches, hoarseness, or swelling in the neck that doesn't go away.
