Haley Platt, a Senior pursuing a
Major in Communication Disorders and a Minor in Human Development and Family Science at Auburn University.
We are proud of Haley and so pleased for her to be chosen by Auburn University to receive the Henson and Kirkland Endowed Scholarship.
What Haley shared with us:
- What part of your Auburn experience has been the most meaningful to you?
A meaningful part of my Auburn experience has been the opportunity to explore new perspectives. Coming from a rural town, I had limited exposure to different ideas. I have met a variety of students and been involved in organizations that have broadened my perspective. I am a member of Baby Steps, an organization that supports student mothers by providing resources and support to help them complete their degrees. Through this organization, I have gained a new perspective on the individual challenges people face.
- What is something you’re proud of accomplishing recently?
Something I am proud of is my involvement in a volunteer service organization. I was recently selected as president of IMPACT on campus. While I am honored by the title, I am more proud of what it represents. I came to Auburn as an introverted student who wanted to serve but did not know how to get involved. Over time, I committed to stepping out of my comfort zone. Now, as a senior, I help other students, similar to myself as a freshman, find service opportunities and stay committed to that same passion.
