It is difficult to put into words the tremendous loss our Scouting family, especially Pack 24 and Troop 8, has felt with the passing of Callum McGookin.

Callum began his Scouting journey as a kindergartner with Pack 24 while his father served as his den leader. Throughout the years, Callum's lighthearted spirit, kindness toward others, and ever-present smile made him an exemplary Scout and a cherished friend to many. His positive attitude, willingness to help others, and dedication to Scouting left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Dedicated to serving others, Callum supported the community through outreach efforts with Help 4 All and played an active role in organizing food drives and initiatives that benefited local food banks. He worked tirelessly to help maintain the 9/11 memorial and was passionate about ensuring that the sacrifices and lives lost on September 11 would never be forgotten. Through his efforts, he encouraged others to learn, remember, and honor those affected by that tragic day.

As Scouts, we come together in times of both celebration and loss. We support one another, serve our communities, and uphold the values that Callum embodied every day. Let us honor his memory by living the principles of the Scout Oath and Scout Law: being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.

Through acts of service, compassion, and fellowship, we can ensure that Callum's legacy continues to inspire future generations of Scouts.

While we mourn the loss of such a remarkable young man, we are grateful for the example he set through his character, service, and dedication to others. Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies remain with the McGookin family and all who loved him.
