"There is no evolution of the true human being without a revolution of the old human being. The old human being has to dissolve; the true human being must be born. The old nature must clear the way for him by self-neutralisation, in order that the rays of the new sun may reach the rosebud. The rosebud will increase if you decrease. This is the secret of the liberating fire."

Strip away the family, the job, the guilt, the influences carried in from the past, and ask what is left that is actually you. What remains isn't a private possession — it's the same energy that mothers and fathers the whole cosmos. Which makes loving only yourself incoherent, and that attachment to 'I am this and everything else is not me' is where the suffering starts.

"I don’t have a philosophy; I have senses...
If I talk about Nature, it’s not because I know what it is,
but because I love it. And that’s why I love it:
Because when you love, you never know what you love,
or why you love, or what love is.

Loving is eternal innocence,
and the only innocence is not thinking."

A past-life regression society throws a party and tells everyone to come as they were. Cleopatra arrives, Jesus arrives, and then two Napoleons. Most of humanity couldn't read, couldn't count, never left their village — so the odds you were anybody at all are poor, and in the astral sphere something will gladly show you whatever you came hoping to find.

"Our very essence is pure consciousness. Our very essence is soul: a potential living connection between the unity and the multitude, between the eternal and the temporary, between the Holy and our personality."

Some inheritances are brutal — the illness passed mother to daughter, the trauma handed down a family line you never chose. If you stop at the suffering, the suffering is useless; it becomes pain you spread to your family and your neighbourhood. The task is turning that weight into material: watching how you react, and deciding what you do with what you were handed.
