The Jason George Memorial Foundation

The Jason George Memorial Foundation Jason was an Eagle Scout, and alumnus of West Point, a Michigan MBA, and a great friend to those who knew him.

The Jason George Memorial Foundation was founded to honor the memory and values of Major Jason George, a US Army Officer killed in the line of duty in Iraq in 2009. As an Admissions Officer for West Point Jason was activated and deployed to Iraq in 2009, where he volunteered for Civil Affairs duty in Baghdad. Jason was a man who served faithfully, without complaint, and his passing came far too soon.

Jason Everett George was born November 3, 1970 in Bakersfield, CA, the son of Hugh and Candace Mason. He died on May 21, 2009. Jason’s biological father was Clyde George.

“JG” or “George” grew up in the high desert of California. As such, he loved the LA Dodgers, American cars, and wearing shorts, even in the coldest weather. He had a great smile and a charming and endearing personality that was a big hit with everyone, including members of the fairer s*x. JG possessed a true sense of curious adventure and was genuinely unafraid to have fun at all times, even during stressful situations.

Today is the 16th anniversary of the untimely passing of US Army Major Jason E. George, KIA 5/21/2009, Baghdad, Iraq. In the wake of that loss, a group of people collectively formed a memorial foundation to honor JG’s memory, and create a legacy through the presentation of scholarships to outstanding Tehachapi High School students. The photo represents a few of the thank you notes from past recipients of the JGMF scholarships. To date, over $30,000 has been awarded, and in a few weeks, we will give out our 14th scholarship.

Did anyone lose their memorial bracelet in Tampa,FL? I was contacted by Tampa PD at the airport because the bracelet was unclaimed and going to auction or destruction. They are sending it to me and I will post photos when I have it in hand. DM if you know who it belongs to.
Thanks. JW

Congratulations to Jonathan Shugart, recipient of the 12th annual Jason E George Memorial Foundation scholarship. Along with being Senior Class President, Jonathan is a well rounded scholar athlete, holding a 4.4 GPA while taking multiple AP courses and playing on the golf team. He plans to attend UCLA to major in History which he intends to teach at the high school or college level.
While in Tehachapi, of course I also stopped by to visit JG. Included a couple of pics. Photos and post courtesy of Ed Marchall.

Hello everyone. As many of you have noticed, our page has been subject to a lot of spam postings. Our admins have been trying to keep up with deleting/reporting, but it may be time for a change. Many other group pages are experiencing the same. FB/Meta doesn’t seem to have a reliable method to solve this problem. Stay tuned for news shortly. We may be migrating to another platform where the admins can post news and updates for all to see, but be able to limit the amount of spam interaction with our page. We appreciate all of the support over the years. Thank you for helping to remember and honor JG.
