Chatham Rotary Club will be cleaning up our adopted section on Anderson Mill Road on Saturday, October 25.

Come out & join us, or find out how to adopt your own stretch!

Be part of the solution and help VDOT clean up the commonwealth! A piece of paper that flew out of the car window or cigarette butt someone flicked out on the road may not seem like a big deal, but it adds up. And it’s costing VDOT $10 million a year to clean up. Rather than spend that money on picking up trash, VDOT could fix 81,660 potholes, or pave 80 lane miles of roadway, or paint 21,200 miles of lane markings.

From October 25 to November 2, VDOT’s Adopt-a-Highway volunteers are joining the effort to clean up the roads across Virginia. VDOT is encouraging people who aren’t already volunteers to sign up to adopt a road to keep tidy.

Chamber Ribbon Cutting to Celebrate New Pickleball Courts in Chatham!!

The Danville Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting on Saturday, August 16 at 10:00 AM to celebrate the grand opening of two brand-new pickleball courts at Harris Field located at 230 Davis Road in Chatham, Virginia. A demonstration by experienced players will begin at 9:00 AM, and the event will be streamed live on the Chamber’s page for those who cannot attend in person.

Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the United States for the fourth consecutive year, with an estimated 19.8 million players in 2024 - a 45.8% increase from the year prior and a 311% surge over the past three years, according to the 2025 Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) Topline Report. The sport’s accessibility and multi-generational appeal make it a natural fit for community recreation projects like this one.

This exciting project is the result of a partnership under the banner of Reimagine Chatham, a coalition that includes the Chatham Rotary Club - Virginia, Chatham Rotary Foundation, Chatham First, along with interested citizens and civic leaders. After conducting surveys and focus groups in 2024, the community identified pickleball as a project that could enhance quality of life and create new opportunities for engagement and recreation in Chatham. Construction was completed by Haymes Brothers Construction, a respected local firm based in Chatham.

After the ceremony, refreshments will be provided to the first 100 attendees, including hot dogs, chips, and drinks.
