“Grief can be the garden of compassion. If you keep your heart open through everything, your pain can become your greatest ally in your life’s search for love and wisdom.” — Rumi

It can really help to create rituals for dealing with our grief. Taking a moment to light a candle or collect objects from nature or do a daily meditation or make an entry into a journal, can make such a difference.
”Ritual gives words to the unspeakable and forms to the formless. It brings the non-physical into physical form so we can see it, touch it, feel it and process it.” Terri Daniel

“Grief and gratitude are kindred souls, each pointing to the beauty of what is transient and given to us by grace.”

Just a message to everyone grieving the loss of a loved one. These are hard times As you well know. For months I’ve been getting emails from “experts” about how we are all in deep grief between COVID and the craziness in DC and the climate change effects. Now I’m getting emails that we’re suffering from PTSD. So it means that feeling tired/wiped is absolutely normal as is feeling anger, depression, apathy and fear. Not sleeping well, nightmares, wanting comfort foods is all normal too. Time to be extra good to ourselves and each other.

'Tis a Fearful Thing
By Yehuda Halevi

‘Tis a fearful thing
to love what death can touch.
A fearful thing
to love, to hope, to dream, to be – to be,
And oh, to lose.
A thing for fools, this,
And a holy thing,
a holy thing
to love.
For your life has lived in me,
your laugh once lifted me,
your word was gift to me.
To remember this brings painful joy. ‘Tis a human thing, love,
a holy thing, to love
what death has touched.
