I don’t do a great job of posting what our troop is up to, but I have to brag on them a little bit!

Pictured are few members of our troop who helped unload a car full of groceries at the Chatfield Community Food Shelf yesterday.

A few weeks ago, after a visit to the food shelf, the girls voted to spend $500(!!!) on baking ingredients to be donated. We spent a meeting looking through cookbooks and picking out yummy recipes to make into our very own recipe book that we shared copies of along with our donation.

The donated food haul included 35 bags of flour, 35 bags of sugar, 10 bags of chocolate chips, 20 cans of frosting and sprinkles, 35 bottles of vanilla, 35 cans of baking powder, 10 jars of peanuts, 5 bottles of vegetable oil, 10 bags of marshmallows, 10 cans of chow mein noodles (for haystacks), 10 jars of cinnamon, 10 jars of peanut butter, 5 cans of cocoa powder, 35 cans of salt and 5 bags of powdered sugar!

NOW HOW IN THE WORLD COULD THEY AFFORD THAT?

All through cookie sales! This is what buying Girl Scout cookies can do for our community! 💚🍪

Do you have a kindergartner or first grader interested in joining Girl Scouts? We have a kindergartner that is interested in joining, but we would need a few more to make it worthwhile! Meetings would be at Chatfield City Hall on Tuesday evenings, twice a month, starting in October. We would need an adult volunteer to assist with leading as well. Send us a message if you’re interested!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!

Our troop needs to sell the rest of these cookies, otherwise we are stuck paying for them from our troop funds!

If you want to stock up on cookies - send us a message to reserve your order, or get a link to order online ahead of time. We will have our FINAL booth on April 9, in the Verizon parking lot (time is TBD).

If you’re sick of eating cookies, but still want to help out - consider donating a few boxes. All donations we raise this season will be spent purchasing boxes of cookies to give to the Chatfield Community Food Shelf. So far, we only have enough to donate about 5-10 boxes and we’d love to show them more love with a lot more donations!

Each box is $5. And while that may seem like a lot for a box of cookies, it allows our troop to do and learn so much! We meet every other week to learn new things, and then plan experiences as a troop such as camping, fishing, rock climbing, and more. All the money we raise for our troop stays within our local community!

Thanks for your consideration in helping us sell out of our stock! 😊🍪

p.s. - did we mention that Girl Scout cookies make great teacher, coach, or staff appreciation gifts?! 😉

Check this out! At this weeks meetings, we made some dog (and cat!) toys for pets that visit Chosen Valley Veterinary Clinic! We only used old t-shirts that were donated to us, truly practicing the “use resources wisely” part of our Law.

As one of our Girl Scouts put it, “I love when we make things for others!”

If you know of any other service projects in the Chatfield area, send us a message!

Happy Halloween! 🎃👻

At Tuesday’s meeting we had a Halloween party, and between games we made 70 treat bags for the residents at Chosen Valley Care Center! The excitement the girls had making all of these was amazing! Each bag includes a pumpkin stress ball, some candy, cheese balls, and a rice crispy treat.

Thanks to everyone who bought cookies earlier this year, our troop was able to enjoy a weekend at camp! We spent our day tie-dying, making wind chimes, painting bird feeders, doing a scavenger hunt, playing dodgeball (with wet sponges!) and going to the beach! We ended the day with some mixed up s’mores around the campfire (have you ever tried a KitKat s’more?!) before settling into our tents for the night.

Special thanks to the Chatfield businesses that let us post cookie sale fliers and sell in their parking lot, and a big thank you to Threads Custom Apparel for getting us a sweet deal on our t-shirts we dyed, we love them!

LIFEGUARD(S) NEEDED!

In order to utilize the beach at camp, we need to supply our own certified lifeguard. We are looking for one (or two, bring a friend if you’d like) lifeguard for a couple of hours on the afternoon of Saturday, July 24. Hours are flexible, totally based off of when you are available. We will pay you the going rate of lifeguards in the area, plus mileage, for your time. Camp is in Waterville, MN - about 1 1/2 hours from the Chatfield area.

Please let us know if you are interested! You must be reliable as having you there is our only way to enjoy the beach 😊
