Chassell Lions Serving our community since 1946. Sponsors of Michigan's longest running festival - The Copper Country Strawberry Festival

The Chassell Lion's Club was chartered in May of 1946 to serve the needs of Lion's International, the County and in particular, the citizens of Chassell. Our one and only fundraiser, The Strawberry Festival, was originally established to support and honor the local strawberry growers. It has been recognized by the State of Michigan as the longest running festival of its kind. The revenue generate

d from the festival supports ILCF projects such as Leader Dogs for the Blind, eyeglass recycling and vision awareness. We have supported many projects in our surrounding communities including funding for a Habitat for Humanity Home, financial support for Omega House, Bay Cliff Health Camp, Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, Air Lifeline and 4-H. Besides our Strawberry Festival, we host an annual Halloween Partly for the children of Chassell and offer financial support to our local school in the form of scholarships, purchasing band instruments, books for the library - just about any need that will be of benefit to our community.

Our next general membership meeting will be February 15th. We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day at Gino’s in Hancock. The event will begin with a 5:00 pm social. Dinner menu options will be available to purchase.

Please plan to attend this important meeting. If you have ever considered serving your Chassell Lions at a higher level, now would be a time to get your name on the ballot to serve on our board. Past President, Lion Steve Palosaari will have ballots available. Voting will be at our March meeting. Please reach out to a board member for more information.
