What would change if someone simply stood with you?

When you're believing God for something, sometimes the voices around you can give you even more reasons to doubt.

Then someone says four simple words:

**“I'll believe with you.”**

They haven't changed your circumstances. They haven't promised you an outcome.

But now you're not standing alone.

Scripture tells us, **“Two are better than one.”** There is strength in having someone beside you who will encourage you, pray with you, and help you keep standing.

Maybe today, you can be that person for someone else.

Have you ever noticed that one conversation can leave you completely drained—while another leaves you feeling stronger?

**What changed in you?**

Ecclesiastes says, “Two are better than one,” and then tells us why: when one falls, the other helps lift them back up.

Some people only point out that you fell.

Others **reach down and help you stand again.**

So here's the question:

**What kind of person are you to the people around you?**

Be someone who strengthens. Be someone who lifts others up.

Sometimes we think we're giving someone good advice when we're really giving them something else—**our fear.**

Wisdom can recognize a problem and still help someone find a way forward. Fear only gives them reasons not to try.

Before you speak into someone else's plans, stop and ask:

**Is this really wisdom—or am I passing my fear on to them?**

Don't give somebody your fear and call it wisdom.

Have you ever watched someone start a conversation excited—and leave discouraged?

Their opportunity didn't change. Their ability didn't change.

**The conversation changed them.**

Scripture tells us to edify one another—to build one another up.

That doesn't mean we never give correction or point out problems. But before we speak, maybe we should ask:

**Will my words help this person stand—or give them another reason to sit down?**

Your words carry more weight than you may realize.

**Use them to build. Speak Life.**

Not every opinion deserves the same weight in your life.

Someone can care about you, mean well, and still give you advice based on fear, their own experiences, or what they would do—not necessarily what God is leading you to do.

Be careful who you allow to influence your decisions.

Listen. Consider. Pray. But learn to recognize the difference between someone having an opinion and someone speaking with wisdom.

Not every voice deserves authority in your life.

Have you ever given someone advice about something you've never actually done?

Someone wants to start a business—and you've never built one.

They want to invest—and you've never invested.

They're considering a career you've never worked in—and suddenly you have advice for them.

Sometimes the wisest answer may simply be:

“I don't know. I've never done that. Find somebody who has.”

There's nothing wrong with not knowing.

Speaking life isn't only about what you say about yourself. It's also about being careful what you speak into somebody else's future.

Before giving advice, ask yourself:

**Have I actually traveled this road?**

Have you ever been excited about an idea—until you told someone about it?

You researched it. You thought it through. Maybe you even prayed about it.

Then one conversation changed how you felt.

But what actually changed?

Before you allow someone's opinion to change your direction, consider whether they've actually traveled the road you're trying to travel.

Someone having an opinion doesn't automatically make them qualified to counsel you.

Be careful whose voice you give influence over your direction.

Who are you allowing to influence the direction of your life?

You want to start investing, so you ask someone who's never invested.

You want to build a business, so you take advice from someone who's never built one.

You want to improve your health, finances, marriage, or future—but have you stopped to consider whether the people advising you have actually been where you're trying to go?

People can love you and genuinely want what's best for you and still give you advice based on their own fears, limitations, or lack of experience.

Proverbs 13:20 says:

“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”

In this teaching, we look at an important question that can affect nearly every area of your life:

**Who are you taking advice from—and have they done it?**

Choose carefully who you allow to influence your thinking, your decisions, and the direction you're headed.

Was authority only given to the apostles?

Jesus gave the twelve power and authority.

But then Luke 10 tells us He appointed seventy others and sent them out too.

When they returned, they said:

“Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.” — Luke 10:17

Then after Jesus returned to the Father, we see Peter and Paul continuing to act in the name of Jesus.

So was this authority only for a select few?

Or does being a believer in Jesus Christ mean something more than many of us have realized?

What does it really mean to do something “in Jesus’ name”?

For many Christians, those words are how we end a prayer:

“In Jesus’ name, amen.”

But look at how the name of Jesus was actually used in Scripture.

Peter said:

“In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.” — Acts 3:6

Paul said:

“I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” — Acts 16:18

They weren't simply ending a prayer.

They were acting in the authority of Jesus Christ.

So could “in Jesus’ name” mean more than we've realized?
