Hello All!

I hope each of you are enjoying transitioning into Spring! As I wait for my tulips and daffodils to bloom, my lilacs to appear, the peepers to sing and the grass to grow, I am also eagerly anticipating attending the Charlton Seniors Spring Luncheon at the Turf Tavern in Scotia on April 22nd at 12:00 pm. We are still accepting reservations through Monday, April 13th. If you wish to join us, please call or email Peter Parker and let him know how many will attend, names and your entrée choice(s). Secondly, there are just 2 short weeks left to RSVP for the Valentine's Day Luncheon. The luncheon will once again be held at the Charlton Freehold Presbyterian Church, 768 Charlton Rd., at 1130 am, on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026. For only $5.00 per member, $7.00 per guest, attendees will enjoy Marcella's pizza, finger sandwiches, salads, fruit, dessert and beverage. The luncheon also includes a mini version of the basket raffle held at our Christmas Luncheon.

As in the past, a donation box will be available at the luncheon for those of you wishing to give monetary donations to benefit the Galway Food Pantry.

RSVPs plus payment, can be mailed to Wendy Shisler, 223 Sweetman Rd. , Ballston Spa, NY 12020 or call/text your RSVP to Wendy at 518-810-9423, you may pay the day of the luncheon. What a fun way to check in with each other and enjoy an Upstate NY, February afternoon!

Just a couple of reminders for our members this morning. First, Sheryl Kaplan will be returning to speak to The Charlton Seniors about "Minimizing and Managing Stress in Your Life" on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 (this coming Wednesday) at the Charlton Freehold Presbyterian Church, 768 Charlton Rd., Ballston Lake, NY. Doors open at 9:30 am for coffee, pastry, socialization, and the speaker will be introduced at 10:00 am. We hope to see many of you there.

Good morning and Happy 2026!!!

The Charlton Seniors are kicking off the New Year with a Game Day on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Please note that while January 14th is a regular meeting day for our group, we are meeting at a different time. Game Day will start at 12:00 pm. We will gather at the Charlton Freehold Presbyterian Church at noon to play favorite board and card games and eat a light lunch. Lunch will feature mini subs and finger foods. If you have a favorite finger food you would like to share, please feel free to add it to our food table!

Come and join a table playing Rummikub, Mexican Train, Clue or cards. Feel free to bring your favorite game to teach or share.

What a great way to brighten a chilly winter day! We hope to see you Wednesday!

Celebration of Life in the honor of Torben and Jena Aabo

People will gather at the Ballston Center Church, 58 Charlton Road, Ballston Spa, on Wednesday, Dec. 3rd at 11:00 am. A reception will immediately follow at the church.
Burial will be held privately for the family at Sweetman Cemetery. Both Jean and Torben's extraordinary lives are summarized in their obituaries, click on the links below.

The Charlton Christmas tree lighting is next Sunday we will have some of the most delicious home made cookies, brownies , apple cider donuts etc. donated from our amazing residents and local businesses. Hot cocoa made with local milk and whipped cream. And Local hot apple cider, stand by the warm fire while Christmas music plays in the background, and children wait for Santa to arrive by fire truck. Visit with old friends and new walking down pathways lined with warmly lit luminaries . It’s a truly magical night , see you there, I’ll have the cocoa ready 🎄this year we will have the happy button co. Here with the 2025 collector addition charlton Christmas tree lighting pins and magnets, the first 12 will be handed out free so get to her table early. I can’t wait to get mine . DEC 7TH @ 4:30pm.

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the tragic loss of Torben and Jean Aabo. They were walking across Charlton Road when they were fatally struck by a vehicle. This is a tremendous loss to our community. We extend our deepest sympathy to their families and friends, and will share details about any memorial arrangements as they become available. May we support each other during this difficult time.

Just a reminder that today is the final day of our Fall 2025 Food Drive. If you have food items to donate, please drop it at the Charlton Freehold Presbyterian Church. Collection tables are set up under the Charlton Seniors Canopy in front of the church. The collection tables will be up until 4:00 pm tonight. If you wish to donate via check, you may mail it directly to the Greater Galway Food Pantry, 2167 East St. Galway, NY 12074.

The time of the Program Committee Meeting tomorrow at the Charlton Freehold Church is incorrect. The Program Committee should be meeting at 12:00 noon, not the 1:00 pm time originally stated. The Charlton Senior Council meeting will immediately follow the 12:00 pm Program Committee Meeting at 1:00 pm.
