We tried to meet in the middle- in talks over the last two weeks with SC leadership, the BPTA moved to lessen the number of silent reps in the bargaining space, in conjunction with a previous offer made by the School Committee to allow a livestream to our remaining reps in the union caucus room, so that every department could have at least 1 member directly observing negotiations. We had hoped this signaled a shift in the School Committee’s intent to move forward and meet us back at the table.
Within four emails, you can read this attempt to compromise fall apart.
The initial hearing for the ULPs we have filed with the MA Department of Labor Relations will begin in June. Another avoidable waste of taxpayer money on unnecessary legal fees, all to compel the District to sit with their employees and negotiate.
Transparency and representation- that’s all we ask.
Union strong 💪🏼 🍎
