The Independence Resource Center mourns the loss of of our founder, great leader, humanitarian, and advocate, Rev. Nathaniel Brown. Our region and the Commonwealth have lost a shining star.
We will miss him.

ADA violations persist in the City of Charlottesville, Va - Government and also across Virginia and the country. Careless placement of utility poles by Dominion Energy and other utility companies compound the access problems for localities and citizens.

Part of the issue stems from where the utility poles are placed, not leaving enough width from the sidewalk to the road.

Our dear friend and teammate, Jeff McDaniel ( #24) passed away last Sunday to our great sorrow. For over 25 years, Jeff was very active in our Charlottesville Cardinals program, the Independence Resource Center, and the broader community. He was always an energetic spark plug and an ambassador of good feelings to everyone. We will miss him terribly.

Very concerned that no mail pickup or delivery has occurred at IRC at 825 Cherry Avenue since last Monday, 4-24! Unfortunately, this is not an isolated problem for us. Unreliable and unpredictable mail service wreaks havoc on businesses (not to mention homeowners).

Heumann was instrumental in pushing to expand the civil rights of Americans with disabilities and continued to advocate for disability rights around the globe. She died on Saturday at age 75.

Del. March removed her tenant's caregiving grandson from the property, saying his presence violates zoning laws. The tenant says it was retribution for her filing stalking charges against another tenant.
