A gentle rain the night before and overcast skies meant the plants were perky, and we had a good crowd with excellent plant selection, ample parking and smooth checkout.

Big thanks to all of the cheerful volunteers who helped customers in every way from plant info, to cashiering and helping shuttle plants to cars, not to mention the behind the scenes work of set up and breakdown. And the parking team gets special credit for keeping spaces available the whole time!

🌟 Phil Stokes is a gold star winner for organizing this gigantic event for the chapter. 🌟

Seen at Holliday Lake State Park on 3/15: A large population of Erythronium americanum.
Some of the common names of this plant are Trout Lily (the mottled leaves resemble the markings of brook trout), Dogtooth Lily (the corms resemble teeth) and Fawn Lily (the leaves are thought to resemble the ears of a fawn). It is an early source for pollinators including the Trout Lily Miner Bee (Andrena erythronii). By the time tree canopies begin to fill out the spring ephemeral completely disappears.
