MACAA Project Discovery

MACAA Project Discovery A state-wide college access and preparatory program for high school students offered locally through the Monticello Area Community Action Agency

Our program operates within the following schools: Albemarle, Charlottesville, Fluvanna County, Monticello, Nelson County, Louisa County, and Western Albemarle High Schools. Project Discovery staff work with students, helping them to achieve success in high school and to discover and pursue the educational opportunities available to them upon graduating. Project Discovery helps students learn:

□how to both make and accomplish goals
□how to improve study skills and to manage time
□how to prepare for the SAT
□how to navigate college admissions & the college application process
□how to choose the right college
□how to seek out scholarships and/or need-based financial aid opportunities to pay for college

Project Discovery helps students through:
□ educational workshops on topics such as college admissions, goal setting, career exploration, college life, financial aid, study skills, taking the SAT, and more!
□ visits to colleges and universities throughout Virginia
□ guidance on how to pay for college
□ providing both college application and SAT fee-waivers (to those who qualify)
□ both group and one-on-one support, encouragement and mentorship
