Hi everyone! FLIP is excited to announce that we're currently recruiting new members for our executive team! If you are interested in helping shape the FGLI community on Grounds, and inspiring change within both student and administrative systems, join our exec team! We're a family of students from nearly every year and major at the University who are striving to make the UVA experience more positive for those of traditionally marginalized identities. We're excited about potentially having you on our team!

As a reminder, some events we've done in the past include Paint a Pumpkin!, FLIP Your Perspective, FLIP Hangouts, and Let's FLIPpin Connect. You do not have to be either a first generation or low-income student to apply, although identifying with either is preferred. The positions are open to all undergraduate and graduate students.

FLIP at UVA is excited to officially announce that we have been awarded $14,161 in funding from the Jefferson Trust!

We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to advocate for first generation and low-income students over these past couple of months. When the FLIP leadership team first came together in September (2019), we had ambitious ideas, but never imagined they would be realistic enough to accomplish within two semesters. We not only have been met with tremendous support from various faculty and administrative offices, but even more so from our student community. All of our hard work as a team could not have been realized without your attendance at our events, needed insights on the experiences we as an FGLI community face, and your commitment to empowering each other daily.

Because of you, we are proud to also announce that we have received funding from both the Parents Fund and Student Engagement Fund, became an official chapter of FLIP National in December, and have recently been inducted as a CIO on Grounds!

There is still so much more work to be done. But for now, we just wanted to acknowledge that these great strides couldn't have been possible without each and every one of you. Continue being resilient today and every day. We can't wait to see you at our upcoming events!
