*There is an event page in this group to make sharing this easier*
We all know that Peyton loved to lift. We also know that he loved to help others when he could. To honor his memory, we will be holding an annual lift off in his honor. This will begin tomorrow June 9th and go until July 9th (this will provide people time to work with their coaches to safely max their lifts if needed).
Everyone who wants to participate will choose one lift (squat, bench (Peyton’s favorite), deadlift, or a strongman event) and complete it using max weight. You will then donate ten cents per pound to the Peyton Murray Scholarship Fund. (You’re welcome to donate more if you feel compelled). We encourage everyone participating to post on social media using the hashtag so that we can flood social media yearly with his memory and a flood of lifts.
For those who do not lift, for every mile you walk or bike you will donate $3 per mile. Still use the same hashtag.
The money donated will be used to help youth across the world purchase lifting gear via the scholarship. Just to put it into perspective where your money will be going, a lifting belt of good quality can cost $100. So, once you include the bag, straps, shoes, etc. the amount for someone to have all the equipment they need for lifting can be on the upper end of $300-$500. We believe we can alleviate this cost for many of our youth looking to get into strength sports. This will allow them to achieve their dreams towards becoming better athletes and people.
We will hold this event annually for 30 days. So far, we have raised $1,500 which is the equivalent of purchasing 15 Inzer lifting belts.
For those who are local to Virginia (we welcome anyone), we will be holding a special cookout at Primal Strength Gym the weekend after his service (6/26). This will be a time for us to hangout and allow anyone who needs to get their lift in, a space to do so. More details to come.
We appreciate everyone who have donated so far. Continue to carry his family in your thoughts and remember, 😊
