Indie Tree

Indie Tree An affordable, safe, self-sustaining living community for adults with intellectual / developmental disabilities that allows residents to live and achieve!

Who will we serve? Adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities that need support to live as independently as possible

What else do they need? An opportunity to realize their life potential to the best of their abilities with an manageable amount of stress. Indie Tree would provide residential, vocational, and recreational programs to support this goal

Where? A place that is affordable,

safe, is able to integrate them into a nearby community, and is permanent. Why:
Adults with ID/DD need to spread their wings during the day, and have a cozy nest to return to at night. They need time to recharge their batteries from the stress of working outside their comfort zone either by relaxing alone in their room or by interacting with their friends on campus. They will also be able to establish a community living framework (peer network) that all residents will be involved in. Independence and autonomy will be enhanced by living in a campus type community that will enable them to interact with each other without a lot of constraints, but with adequate supervision. This means they can make choices for themselves about many things they cannot currently make. Please join us in these vital efforts as we move forward to create, sustain and grow...Indie Tree!

Hello Friends!

It has been a long time in between updates, but we have been working "behind the scenes" to move this dream towards reality. We are very pleased to say that the Indie Tree vision is closer to being realized!

NEW COMMUNITY PARTNER

Statement from Ann Oshel, Senior VP, Community Health and Well-Being, Alliance Health:

"Alliance is committed to partnering with advocates, families, housing developers and our members to create desirable living options for persons with IDD. The DOJ Settlement Agreement, known as Transitions to Community Living (TCL), and now the Samantha R Consent Order have provided the sense of urgency to make community living a reality for so many people who have just been waiting on the opportunity. We believe in dignity of risk which allows someone the chance to live in the least restrictive environment because that is what they want for themselves.
Alliance has been a long-time partner and adopter of Housing is Healthcare. Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) is the combination of safe, decent and affordable housing with the services a person needs and wants to be successful. Our work with landlords, developers, community partners and providers to develop affordable housing and the wraparound services spans over 15 years. We have almost 1200 people that we serve living in PSH.
We look forward to partnering with Indie Tree to make this a reality and the hopes and dreams of persons with IDD waiting to have their own place to live come true!"
