Charlotte Catholic High School Foundation

We are a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated solely to supporting Charlotte Catholic High School. The Gala is our premiere fundraising event.

To raise funds for Charlotte Catholic High School. The Gala is sponsored by the Charlotte Catholic High School Foundation and a collaborative event with CCHS parent volunteers. All funds raised go toward current and future needs at Charlotte Catholic.

With heavy hearts and fond memories we are sad to share that legendary Cougar Football Coach Jim Oddo passed away overnight. He was 85.

Coach Oddo started coaching at Charlotte Catholic in 1973 and won 358 games in his career, the winningest coach at one school in state history. In his 41 seasons, the Cougars made the state playoffs 30 times including six state championship game appearances. Under his leadership, they won the title in 1977, 2004 and 2005.

Please join the Catholic family in praying for his wife Lorraine, along with his children and grandchildren.

He also leaves behind thousands of Cougar football players and their families who were influenced as much by his love for the game as they were by his love for his players. His impact was felt far beyond the field that bears his name, reaching thousands more CCHS students, parents, fellow coaches and faculty members.

Rest in peace, Coach.

Wow!

The Charlotte Catholic community SHOWED UP for the online auction! In a year of uncertainty and during a time when we are still unable to come together in-person, this incredible community came together to support our students and teachers.

Dana Weis Zimmer‘03, CCHS history teacher and parent of children in the MACS system at St. Matthew, recently shared with us why she feels it is important to support The Gala and the CCHS Foundation.

“You know, many people often say ‘teaching is a thankless job,’ but I can wholeheartedly say that I have never felt this way as a Charlotte Catholic teacher. I feel that I am constantly thanked and appreciated through initiatives like the Sister Paulette Award, the Teacher Impact Fund, and tuition assistance for teachers with children in the MACS system. This is a big deal for my family! I have personally benefited from these initiatives and I am so grateful for the Foundation’s continued efforts to support and fund these programs.

I also recently received a grant from the Foundation for a new document camera that helped me more effectively teach my AP students as we transitioned to online synchronous learning. This has been a game changer!

Contributions to The Gala help fund all of this! Thank you for your past and continued support! We are so thankful for your generosity!”

CCHS alumna and Alumni Association Board Member Kathleen Frandano Franek(class of 1990) also shared with us why she and her family give to The Gala and the CCHS Foundation! Here’s what she had to say:

“Why do we give to The Gala and CCHS Foundation?

Because so many of those who have walked these halls have been like family for 30 years.

As a native Charlottean and public-school transfer into CCHS, I first visited the campus back in 1986. I was in awe of the kind and faith-filled community I experienced. I remember returning home and telling my parents, ‘That's the school for me,’ and never looked back.

I now have a daughter who graduated from CCHS in 2016 and a son who will graduate this year. I’m grateful to share this unique educational and faith-filled experience with my children.

I am humbled by the number of faculty who love CCHS so much that they have remained all these years, many until their retirement. It is testament of the community to see so many previous students (some of my friends) who have chosen to return to our beloved Cougar Nation for their own career.

We donate to The Gala and the CCHS Foundation out of gratitude to those who have walked alongside us in our journey as parents, helping to provide our children with not only a stellar academic education, but more importantly, one that has eternal value. ‘The soul of education is the education of the soul.’ - Pius XI”

The answer is simple. We believe in the teachers and this community!
We want the very best for our daughters and that means supporting their education.

Supporting The Gala and the CCHS Foundation means that teachers and students have the additional resources they need to achieve excellence in education that we have come to expect from Charlotte Catholic. The Gala doesn’t just support the physical needs and resources they need in the classroom. It also supports teachers through the Teacher Impact Fund and the Sister Paulette Awards.

This helps us keep the very best teachers at Catholic and helps motive our teachers to be at the top of their game.

We’re grateful for the hard work Catholic has done to keep the students in school this year and provide extracurriculars. This is essential for their mental and emotional health. It has been a relief to know our youngest (a sophomore) is still getting a quality education and the overall enrichment our older daughters received at Catholic, despite a pandemic.
