Worried about liability if you donate leftover food? You don't need to be.

The federal Good Samaritan Food Donation Act and North Carolina's own food donation law both protect businesses that donate in good faith. On top of that, every donation qualifies for a tax deduction, and we send you a receipt at the end of the year.

2.5 million pounds of food have been kept out of Charlotte landfills through this program. Nearly 15% of households in Mecklenburg County are food insecure. The food already exists. It just needs somewhere to go.

If you run a restaurant, catering business, or dining program, this is the easiest way to make your surplus count. feedingcharlotte.org to become a food donor.

Nearly 40% of food in this country gets thrown away. We built a system to stop that, one pickup at a time.

Here's how it works if you're a restaurant, caterer, or event venue with extra food:

1. You call, we schedule your pickup.
2. We match you with a trained volunteer team.
3. They collect the food, following food safety guidelines the whole way.
4. It's delivered same day to a local soup kitchen or church that's feeding neighbors right now.

That's it. No minimum beyond enough to feed 20 people. No cost. Just food that was headed for a dumpster, headed somewhere better instead.

Know a restaurant or venue with extra food most nights? Tag them below, or send us a DM to get started.

Your kitchen's surplus is someone's dinner tonight.

Every day, restaurants, caterers, and corporate dining programs across Charlotte throw away food that's still fresh, still safe, still good. We pick it up, same day, and get it to a neighbor who needs it.

Here's what that looks like on your end: we schedule the pickup, a trained volunteer team shows up, they load it up following food safety guidelines, and it's delivered to a local food distributor within hours. No cost to you. Tax deduction on the other end.

If your business generates surplus prepared food, let's talk. feedingcharlotte.org to become a Feeding Charlotte food donor.

A rescue isn't complete when the food leaves the restaurant.

It's complete when it lands in front of someone who needs it.

Feeding Charlotte delivers rescued meals to 60+ nonprofit organizations across Charlotte: places like Charlotte Rescue Mission, Roof Above, and The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte, doing the daily work of serving neighbors facing some of the hardest circumstances life can bring.

When a restaurant calls with surplus food, a Feeding Charlotte driver picks it up same day and delivers directly to organizations like these. No food sits. No neighbor waits any longer than they have to.

That's the full loop: restaurant to rescue to neighbor, same day. And it only works because of partners on both ends of it.

If your restaurant, catering company, or venue generates surplus food, we'd love to be the connection in the middle.

Feeding Charlotte kept the riders fueled.

Last weekend, we were proud to provide food for the 24 Hours of B***y — 24 Foundation's 24-hour cycling and walking event on Charlotte's B***y Loop in Myers Park.

For 25 years, 24 Hours of B***y has brought the Charlotte community together around a shared mission: changing the course of cancer. Riders, walkers, volunteers, and supporters spend 24 hours on the loop raising money for cancer patients and survivors across our region. To date, the event has raised over $33 million. This year alone: more than $1.6 million.

Our role was to make sure everyone on that loop stayed fed. Their role was to keep riding for 24 hours to support people fighting cancer.

We'll take that partnership every time.

Thank you to 24 Foundation, every rider, every volunteer, and every donor who came out this year. Charlotte is lucky to have you.

"700 meals packed today with Feeding Charlotte!! Go Irish, Fight Hunger!"

That's straight from the Notre Dame Club of Charlotte, and we couldn't be prouder of what they pulled off.

700 meals packed in a single Lunches of Love session, now heading to Charlotte Rescue Mission, Roof Above, The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte, and Beverly Knox Davis — organizations doing the daily work of making sure Charlotte neighbors don't go without.

The Notre Dame Club didn't just show up. They rolled up their sleeves and made it happen.

This is exactly what the Lunches of Love program was built for: your group, your space, our food, our delivery. One afternoon equals hundreds of meals for neighbors in need.

More than 2 million meals.

That's how many meals Feeding Charlotte has rescued and delivered since we started. Two million moments when a neighbor got a quality meal they otherwise wouldn't have had.

Behind every one of those meals: 560+ volunteer drivers who show up week after week. Food partners across Charlotte who chose to call us instead of throwing food away. Financial supporters who keep the operation running. And a city that has shown up in ways we couldn't have imagined when we started.

Together, we've also diverted more than 2.5 million lbs of food from the landfill.

We started with a simple idea: the world doesn't have a food shortage problem. It has a logistics problem. And if you solve the logistics, you can feed people.

Two million meals later, that idea still holds. And we're just getting started.

That's exactly what Feeding Charlotte's Lunches of Love program is designed to do. You host the event at your location, your office, church, or community room, and your volunteers show up ready to pack. We bring the food, the logistics, and a plan to get every meal delivered to 60+ approved nonprofit feeding programs across Charlotte, same day.

Here's what different group sizes can do:

- 20–30 volunteers: ~1,000 meals
- 50–70 volunteers: ~1,700 meals
- 80–120 volunteers: ~2,250 meals
- 120+ volunteers: ~3,000 meals

At $2.50 a meal, your team can turn one afternoon into thousands of meals for families across Charlotte.

It's one of the most direct ways a group can see their impact in real time. And it's simpler to host than you'd expect.

Healthcare and food rescue have more in common than you'd think.

Both begin with the same belief: every person deserves access to what they need to be healthy. For a lot of people, stable access to quality food is where that starts.

Feeding Charlotte is grateful to have Advocate Health as a sponsor. Their support helps fund our day-to-day food rescue operations across Charlotte, picking up surplus meals from businesses, caterers, and institutions and delivering them to neighbors in need, same day. No food wasted. No neighbor turned away.

We're proud to be in the same city with an organization that understands the connection between food and health. Thank you to the Advocate Health team.
