Today, October 11, we observe the International Day of the Girl Child under the 2026 theme: “End child marriage and invest in girls’ rights.”

Every girl deserves a childhood, the freedom to learn, grow, dream, make her own choices and shape her future.

Yet more than 12 million girls are married before adulthood every year, approximately one girl every three seconds. Child marriage can interrupt education, limit opportunities and expose girls to violence, poor health and lifelong inequality.

Through Project Fierce and Awesome and , The Lady B Bless Humanitarian Foundation remains committed to advancing girls’ education, leadership, safety and empowerment.

Investing in girls means:

* Keeping girls in school
* Protecting them from violence and harmful practices
* Supporting their health and well-being
* Amplifying their voices and leadership
* Defending their right to choose their own futures

When girls are educated, protected and empowered, they help build healthier families, stronger communities and more prosperous societies.

Today, September 21, we observe the International Day of Peace under the 2026 theme: “Invest in Peace.”

Peace is more than the absence of conflict. It is the presence of dignity, justice, equality, opportunity, and hope.

Investing in peace means investing in quality education so children can imagine better futures. It means advancing gender equality, expanding access to clean and affordable energy, strengthening justice and accountable institutions, and building partnerships that unite communities rather than divide them.

Peace is deeply connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—particularly:

• SDG 4: Quality Education
• SDG 5: Gender Equality
• SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
• SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
• SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

As Executive Director of The Lady B Bless Humanitarian Foundation, I believe each of us has a role in building peace. It begins in our homes, workplaces, organizations, communities, and in how we choose to treat one another.

International Literacy Day 2026
Literacy for People, the Planet and Prosperity

Today, September 8, we observe International Literacy Day and reaffirm a simple but powerful truth: literacy is not only the ability to read and write—it is a foundation for dignity, opportunity, equality, and sustainable development.

This year’s theme, “Literacy for People, the Planet and Prosperity,” reminds us that advancing literacy is essential to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Literacy advances SDG 4: Quality Education by giving children, young people, and adults the knowledge and skills needed to learn throughout their lives.

It supports SDG 5: Gender Equality by helping women and girls access education, understand their rights, develop their potential, and participate fully in society.

It strengthens SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by opening pathways to employment, entrepreneurship, financial independence, and stronger livelihoods.

Literacy also contributes to SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by enabling people to access reliable information, participate in decision-making, understand environmental challenges, and work together to create sustainable solutions.

Through and our education and youth-development initiatives, The Lady B Bless Humanitarian Foundation remains committed to helping people understand the Sustainable Development Goals and become informed agents of change in their communities.

When we teach someone to read, we open more than a book. We open the door to knowledge, confidence, opportunity, and a more sustainable future.
